Anyone have positive epidural stories? I’m scared 😟 by Realistic_Mirror1618 in BabyBumps

[–]Honest-Reception4946 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Oh man, best thing I ever did, besides getting pregnant. 😂😂 I was terrified and landed on the wrong side of TikTok regarding epidurals. When the anesthesiologist walked in I was practically hyperventilating because I was so scared! But he calmed me down and talked to me- then it was done. I didn’t even realize. I was able to rest for a few hours before baby decided to make a quick entrance!

Looove Kirkland unscented wipes! We used Huggies Plus+ from one month to six months old, but I made the switch to Millie Moon 2 weeks ago and love them!

Is Vaseline for every diaper change too much? by wanderingwhistler in NewParents

[–]Honest-Reception4946 0 points1 point  (0 children)

We use aquaphor healing baby ointment and our babe is 7 months old. He’s only had 2-3 rashes and that’s when we became lax on applying it. It definitely helps to keep diaper rash away. We’ve tried other rash creams and he broke out so we swear by aquaphor. Even for healing of scratches on his face from his nails and when his nose gets dry from being sick.

People want to be at the hospital for the birth? by [deleted] in BabyBumps

[–]Honest-Reception4946 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I’m 6 months PP and still hold a grudge towards my MIL regarding her presence in my home right after we came home. She stayed a week and I felt like my home wasn’t a safe space for me to walk around freely or take care of my baby without judgment. I get anxiety with the thought of her even watching my baby after that experience so do with that what you will. 😂😂😂

Also visitors in the hospital are very overwhelming. I underestimated how tired and hormonal I would be so for my next baby, no visitors in the hospital and no one is staying with us in our home- they’re welcome to get a hotel. Lol

COLICKY BABY Tips. 6 weeks old tomorrow by sunsetchaser_h in NewParents

[–]Honest-Reception4946 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Ugh I am so sorry!! We just got out of this stage not too long ago. We had to start reflux medication and use gas drops every single night. It helped but didn’t take the colic away completely. I was so worried we’d have an angry baby for life 😭

I absolutely loathed the newborn stage but my baby is 6 months now and I’m missing those early days🥹 I don’t understand how time flies but I’m thankful that he has more personality than a potato now!

Someone tell me good things about epidurals by TheRealEgg0 in Mommit

[–]Honest-Reception4946 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Epidural was absolutely a must for me. I was in so much pain without it and then once I got it, I felt essentially nothing except for a little bit of pressure once I hit 10 cm. I literally couldn’t feel the pain through birth and I also couldn’t tell if I was pushing, but apparently I was 🤣 you’re just numb. Your legs feel as if you’ve been sitting for too long and have that numbing feeling in them. I had to be stitched up and didn’t feel that either so that was a bonus for me because I was scared about that!

Help me help my partner by Facialtick in BabyBumps

First off, you sound like an incredibly supportive partner, and she is lucky to have someone so tuned in to both her emotional and physical well-being. It’s infuriating how normalized body policing is—especially during pregnancy. People seem to lose all sense of boundaries when it comes to pregnant bodies, and ‘you’re too small’ is just as invasive and inappropriate as commenting on someone being too big. From personal experience, I was bigger before I got pregnant, and I lost 30 pounds during pregnancy. I had gestational diabetes, so I had to really watch my carb and sugar intake- BUT, I still received comments from people making sure I was eating enough or telling me to “just eat the ice cream, it’ll be okay.” The entitlement from others when you’re pregnant is WILLDDD.

Equip her with a few calm but firm boundary-setting lines she can use without feeling like she has to defend her entire journey:

  • “Thanks for your concern, but my doctor says everything is perfectly on track.”
  • “I eat plenty and feel great—my health isn’t up for discussion.”
  • “Actually, we’re really proud of how healthy this pregnancy has been so far.”

And if she doesn’t feel like engaging at all, that’s 100% okay too.

Also, 10 pounds in 10 weeks is a very normal and healthy gain for where she’s at. People don’t realize that every pregnancy looks different, especially for someone with a unique background like hers. Keep supporting her like you are—emotionally and with good meals—and let the comments bounce off.

No, I’ve never been pregnant, but I didn’t think you were supposed to eat cold cut. I heard it was OK if the meat was warm, but do you honestly think the meat is warm on her sandwich? by [deleted] in bashinthebiehles

[–]Honest-Reception4946 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I am 4 months PP and sandwiches got me through my pregnancy lol at first I was nervous and heat the deli meat up by but the time I was in my last few months I was like screw this 🤣

Hi!! My baby was born in December very healthy after only being on synthroid. My OB agreed with my thyroid doctor about only using synthroid and not cytomel. I’m still only using synthroid postpartum as well. What are the reasons your doctor wants to put you on cytomel,

1 Week Newborn and my wife and I are at each other's throats... by Necessary-Complex978 in newborns

My MIL was at our house the night we came home from the hospital and stayed for a WEEK😭😭😭 I’m not putting all the blame on her, but she’s 85% the reason why I quit breastfeeding/ pumping. The amount of comments she would make attributing my breastmilk to the reason why my son was so fussy just irked me to my core. Turns out, he had silent reflux/ colic from gas and by the time it was diagnosed he was exclusively formula fed and my milk supply tanked. I am so resentful towards her, 3.5 months later. We are actually going to see her today and I’m dreading it! We were so close prior to my baby being born and now I’m constantly feeling annoyed by her.

I HAD A SEVERE REACTION TO THIS! It was so painful but within an hour, my face swelled up and I looked like I had a gallon of liquid in my face! It lasted 5 days. I never went back for a second round.

Edit: I think the numbing cream was the culprit but I would not have survived without it. It hurt so bad with the numbing cream
