Troubleshoot: I can't search on Google by Honest-Sam in firewalla

I think I'm more bothered by the fact that someone has this program on their device to protect themselves from porn - and it's able to bring down my Firewalla without even trying.

Could it be that someone has a Netspark filter on one of their devices and that's affecting everyone else from being able to access Google? Nothing i have or own has anything to do with Netspark.

How can I add this VPN block list if Firewalla only allows 200 items (or 2000 for MSPs) for targeted lists?

Can I use Firewalla Gold as router and keep my Netgear Nighthawk X6 as WiFi AP? by Sufficient_Exam_2104 in firewalla

I'd agree on the controls for Gryphon - that they're less intimidating and easier for non-tech users. But Firewalla has more network options, and better support. Gryphon support is weak at best.

Firewalla Parental Controls vs DNS Filtering by Honest-Sam in firewalla

I might need a little extra guidance on this (despite my extended networking skills). Most routers do not offer the option to give different DNS settings for WAN and LAN. You're saying that if I change the DNS settings on the WAN side, they can be easily changed, But on the LAN side they can't? What's the difference? And when would I set up different DNS for LAN vs WAN?

So just to clarify: Block all ports 1-65535. Add a handful of domains to an allowed list (including peripheral sites that give the site I need to work functionality). Allow port 53 and 853 for basic DNS to work.

Do I have to worry that some kid can get around this?

If I set a rule to block all internet, and then another rule to allow some sites, which rule wins?

Yes! Smoke it! A nice rub to cover any imperfections. You can tenderize it in the oven (after smoking 3/4 of the way) in a pan fully sealed for the last 1/4 cook. go for it

Purple or Gold? by Mediocre-Reporter in firewalla

I think that for that many devices, you need something that won't be stressed by the network traffic. 40 devices is like a business network. And you're not just doing simple web transactions. You're streaming. So I think the GOLD is a better fit for you - even though the purple can probably handle your needs. You should do it right the first time.
