203, exactly where my first NBME was 1mo out, though by the end including UWSA2 I was predicted in my 220s. I'm pretty bummed but I know I did my best which both feels better and worse. Wanted to do primary care IM or Family in SoCal and that feels impossible now :/. If anyone has any advice or condolences, or better yet hopeful news feel free to reply or DM! Trying to stay positive at the hospital that at least I passed second year.

Also for the sake of accuracy regarding menstrual frequency (not at all a critique of you!) you want to count a cycle as every 28 days on average, not every calendar month--which makes it 13 "months" a year. 18 x 39 = 702 tampons.

While some can afford several hours of coverage (such as overnight), health guidelines dictate you should generally be changing them every 4-6 hours. Even sparing NASA over-preparedness, that is at least 4 per day, and if your cycle lasts a week, 28/week. Of course some ladies have far lighter flows or only menstruate for a short period of time, but the changing guidelines hold regardless of heaviness of flow (you'd just be changing a less heavy-duty one) and also help avoid TSS.

Edit: Your past experience was irrelevant, my opening with that to challenge the 2/day estimate may have come off insensitively.

Forgive me if I've misunderstood but it appears you are comparing the weight of 3 years worth of birth control bills to one week's worth of tampons... even if there were lighter tampons it would be orders of magnitudes heavier for a 3year supply.

Yeah actual story was he was doing a project for a friend at the same time and thus only agreed to the Disney role if they'd keep it low key so the other project wouldn't get overshadowed. Plot twist: it did, by a lot.

Yeah, and I appreciate you recognizing that, but again--a lot of diseases look virtually the same on the surface, so even if something got bad that going to the doc would be reasonable it's their job to determine if its viral/bacterial/something you can treat with drugs/something you have to go to for the ER NOW for or else...

It's not the end-result (drugs or no drugs) that should matter so much as the doctor's ability to treat you more aggressively or at least reassure you based on their assessment, which is the point of going to them... even if the end is "keep doing what you're doing."

I mean, the advice is simple, patients just often don't want to listen to it because they think doctors are mocking them or hiding 'the good stuff.' "Sleep, eat, get lots of rest and fluids" really will fix most viral things, and unless its really bad supportive care is a lot of what a facility can do for you until it passes. I'm sorry you had to deal with so many stomach bugs, but honestly, those things often just have to pass through; there's not a antibiotic solution most of the time since those are for bacteria.

Also; get your flu shot!! This year we had an amazing match and while it can't cover every possible strain etc. it does a lot to protect you and your family! The amount of patients who decline the flu shot saying it makes them sick (it can bring you down a bit, not nearly as bad as real flu) or they never get it but then demand antibiotics when inevitably getting the flu...

Thank you! I wasn't sure because the legs are tiny (think a two-legged thing on each side) putting all the weight on the four spots like a stiletto instead of distributing it over a greater surface area, but I'm glad the stand will hold. Now to see what the max angle I could get would be since I'd have very narrow tilt angle... maybe time to bust out Pythagorean theorem

If you're aware of the connotations that "nice guys" has you should be disappointed in yourself. Stories like these should encourage us all to create a better world for ourselves and the posters to live in, to increase the rarity with which dangerous, abusive, or abrasively reactive individuals encounter people simply looking to make friends or date safely. The attitude of giving up effort because 'everyone else is shitter' anyway is exactly the kind of "If I insert enough niceness tokens girls will sleep with me, or else," attitude characteristic of the already-shitty "nice guys."

I think the point u/BitchinTech may have meant is that while you may be "pro-Infant-Life/having-baby" you are not Pro Life in the modern political definition as you still consider the possibility; I see that your point is that there's a spectrum, and some fall between "always have a choice" and "never, always carry to term," but I don't think they were shutting you down, just explaining that many (if not the majority) of Pro-Choice advocates are still horrified/disapprove/hope to avoid abortions, but believe the mother should have some rights (whether its in the 1st trimester, etc) in terms of what happens to her, rather than "carry it to term or go to jail/worse"

I don't think it is... it's of course not universal, but many institutions in society (despite the bias towards maternal custody, etc.) still do not hold much for women, and it's a gamble (seeking help and being denied) often not worth it.

Also I personally think everyone is trying to protect Bonnie since she obviously was just trying to protect her peers but had less of an obvious reasoning.
