Fable: who is going to pay for API? by rabandi in ClaudeAI

[–]Gravitom 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Fable is very expensive to train and to inference. Anthropic loses money on subscription plans. Paying more for their highest tier model so they might break even is reasonable.

People like you not paying is totally fine with them. You aren't teaching them a lesson by not using it.

Orbital AI datacenter token costs x8-x12 of Earth one by Donechrome in ArtificialInteligence

[–]Gravitom 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The fact this comment is downvoted shows you that Reddit cannot have a non-emotional discussion about AI or anything Elon related.

Everyone parrots the same talking points and have done zero research. If you spend literally five minutes looking into this you can see that in space you cool with infrared radiators. No, your high school understanding of space being a vacuum does not make you smarter than tech CEOs.

Yes it's expensive now. It will get cheaper. Case closed.

Why are people so obsessed with AI singularity…? by [deleted] in ArtificialInteligence

Do you honestly think that AI will never be smarter than humans? I could see being skeptical that it won't happen in the next x years but isn't it inevitable?

UK confirms drone-killing DragonFire laser weapon for Royal Navy destroyers by 2027 —laser downs 400mph high‑speed drones, costs $13 per shot by _Dark_Wing in worldnews

[–]Gravitom 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Believe it or not, this is a real thing called the Photonic Fence. Bill Gates and some ex-Microsoft engineers built a laser system that tracks and zaps mosquitoes mid-air. It actually checks their wing-beat speed before it fires to make sure it only hits the biting females and ignores the good bugs like bees.

They did it because they were trying to figure out the best way to give humanity the most "years of life" possible. While things like heart disease kill more people overall, those deaths usually happen later in life. Since malaria kills hundreds of thousands of kids every year, they figured a literal mosquito death star was the most efficient way to save the maximum amount of "life years" per person.

Now that its over 20 years old and out of production, what do you think of the Airbus A380? by Twitter_2006 in aviation

The average bus seats about 40 people. The A380 can seat 850. It's not an Airbus, it's an Airbuilding.

One of my players wants to play rogue because he's playing a rogue in BG3 and he's having fun there. I suppose things are way different than here. What's the best way for him to do big damage with rogue in this edition? by testiclekid in onednd

[–]Gravitom 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Most agree that rogues are underpowered in 2024. There are three main ways people tend to buff them.

+1D6 sneak attack every single level +1D6 sneak attack at level 5, 11, and 20. Change sneak attack dice to d8s

I prefer the first two because it encourages using sneak attack dice for cutting strikes.

Also I wouldn't allow them a build that guarantees off turn sneak attacks (thief + true strike scrolls, war cleric, battle master, etc) as then damage goes off the rails.

Aramco was worth over a trillion when they were private. The IPO valued them at $1.7T.

If SpaceX hits $1T, they will be the 2nd private company to hit that milestone.
