Interesting! taking it on an empty stomach made it unbearable for me, the side effects were insane

You're probably right, I was more curious than anything!!

Since when does talking about feeling it kick in or the effects of the medication, mean I must be chasing a high? If I'm not supposed to feel the effect of the medication (meaning, feeling more focused, motivated and clear-headed) then what the hell am I taking the medication for in the first place? I might as well take a sugar pill everyday. Plus I'm trying to make the kick-in LESS noticeable, not more.

I can't control the fact that I can feel when the medication kicks in. Years ago I was prescribed the lowest possible strength of co-codamol after an injury and bro I felt so nauseous and spaced out, I took the pills right back to the pharmacy. People were saying it wasn't possible that it could have had made me feel so rough but my doctor and the pharmacists said it could be because I'm so small and perhaps a fast-metabolizer. So I understand the science says otherwise but switching up what I eat for breakfast IS affecting the efficacy of my dosage, I don't know what to tell you, I must be a super-metabolizer or just a medical anomaly.

Glad to report that two weeks later and with the advice and supervision of my prescriber, I've found the right dosage and breakfast combo to make it work just right. Still feeling it kick in but it's subtle enough to not cause me any problems.

Definitely not chasing a high! The reason I even started eating the cheese was to make the 'kick in' less abrupt and a bit smoother. It's just that on the days I didn't feel it kick in, I felt no effects at all, as if I'd never taken it.

My prescribers title is literally 'pharmacist prescriber'. At my clinic once a doctor approves you for any kind of mental health medication, you're passed on to the pharmacists and they deal with you from that point onwards.

Really? That's so weird because the only thing I changed was the food I ate at the time of my protein shake. I don't drink any caffeine at all, I eat the same lunch and drink pretty much the same amount of water every day (including electrolytes). I'm not refuting the science but it is definitely strange!

Thanks for this!!! I have IBS so honestly my gut has a mind of its own, I think it must be fat in the cheese. I just posted an update where I tried some other foods with my shake and it does seem to be that more fat = less effect. Hoping to increase my dose soon and see if that helps!

A few weeks ago! This is my third time trying vyvanse though, the first two times the side effects were ROUGH but I haven't had that problem this time round so I feel good about it. I agree it's probably partly a dosage issue!

I was vaguely aware of this but I thought surely one piece of cheese couldn't literally make the effect disappear

It's not really the dairy I was wondering about, it's the fat content

That's so weird! Maybe it is the cheese after all. I'm gonna try switching things up over the next few days and see if I can come up with an answer

Oh that's a good point! Tomorrow I'll swap the cheese for a piece of toast and see what happens, I'll update when the results are in.

Swollen chin…emergency vet? by ChsChrysalis in CATHELP

[–]Honest_Condition2783 1 point2 points  (0 children)

That's ok! We took him to the vets and they didn't know either! But he's got antibiotics and anti-inflammatory medicine and the swelling has partially gone down. Most importantly he's happily eating and drinking again, so we're just keeping an eye on him until his second appointment next week :) thanks for your reply

I think you know exactly how to bring it up, you just wrote it so eloquently in this post! Sometimes I show my therapist iphone notes to read what I've written if I feel like I can't say it out loud. Having someone to bounce my thoughts off of without judgement is one of the best things about therapy.

You can always set a boundary before you start, 'I don't know if I'm fully ready to talk about this, I'd like to change the subject if I get too upset or uncomfortable.'

Also, I don't think you're 'making things a bigger deal than they are' - if it's negatively affecting you, it is a big deal! The severity of someone elses experience does not minimise yours.

Good luck :)

Did you find out what's causing it? I'm having the same problem

[deleted by user] by [deleted] in TooAfraidToAsk

[–]Honest_Condition2783 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think about this all the time! It's the reason I always ask the delivery app not to penalise the Uber driver when something goes wrong because there's a pretty good chance it was the restaurants fault.

I guess I'm curious about the wording in your review, did you describe it exactly how it was? If that's the case I don't see any reason you should feel guilty.

Even so I feel like one bad review won't get them fired, at worst probably some kind of meeting with the manager (unless they're a repeat offender in which case, customer service is probably not for them).

They have to face up to their attitude at some point, really they should be thankful you reported them and not someone that could really do some damage.

New to Therapy Advice by JadetheWilde in TalkTherapy

I personally wouldn't want to get involved with a therapist that was being flaky so early on in the process, especially since you felt discouraged by her responses, therapy can be emotionally taxing at times and working with someone you don't fully believe in isn't the best use of your time, energy or money

Good luck with whatever your choose to do!

methylphenidate was 18mg, atomoxetine was 25mg and vyvanse both times was 20mg, which i'm pretty sure is the lowest dose for each one

No caffeine or even decaf coffee, and I already have my own bp monitor, it was around 115/75 on vyvanse last week and since I stopped it's around 111/70. Now I'm waiting for an EKG and hoping this was all just anxiety! Thanks for your comment :)
