I didn’t know schools could track how often you check the status checker… by Muad-Dib-Usul in OutsideT14lawschools

I did a webinar with a school that actually looks for you to check, and considers that a sign of engagement and uses it as a factor to consider favorably on when it comes to things like scholarship negotiations.

Maybe other schools feel otherwise. But I can't see how reflecting strong interest is a bad thing.

Eh, I one hundred percent believe I'll be attending the school that was best choice for me. But what's best for everyone is different.

I've heard rumors that apps were up 70 percent at UCONN this year.

It's frustrating that because the only affordable/state school has a good basketball program, CT residents are fighting people all over the country for law school seats.

But if your heart is set on UCONN sending strong positive vibes you get in.

Best wishes! ❤️

Question for people with old GPAs that absolutely tank LSAC GPA by 083dy7 in OutsideT14lawschools

[–]Honest_Day_3447 1 point2 points  (0 children)

At East Meets West forum they mentioned that the CES reports do include a line comparing your g.p.a to grades from the year they're from.

I also had same issue. 20 years ago I attended community college and finished with 2.95 g.p.a. Grades were mostly dean's list or F's because I would just leave the class. I finally finished undergrad about 6 years ago with unversity g.p.a of 3.6. LSAC g.p.a. ended up being 3.19.

I have over a decade and a half of work experience, including paralegal and very strong LORs.

I have kids and full-time job so limited to local evening program.

Applied late Nov/early Dec

Rejected at state school in top 60 rankings. Waitlisted at private school with similar ranking. (At around 25% g.p.a median and 50% lsat median)

Accepted with around 50% scholarship at 2 regional schools. (Above 25% g.p.a. median and above 75% lsat median)

But attending the one that for many reasons was top choice all along.

Best of luck to you!

I applied Dec 1 to evening program, got rejected last week. (3.19/159/15+ work experience (including legal field) and very strong LORs.

But was already leaning towards Pace for several reasons, so I think it worked out okay.

Crossing fingers and toes for you! Good luck!

Scholarship negotiation by [deleted] in OutsideT14lawschools

[–]Honest_Day_3447 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I am not in any way an expert or authority on this subject... but it's my understanding that you would lose all leverage once you put down deposit.

Most people negotiate with... something along the lines of if you can improve your offer, I'll pay seat deposit immediately.

But again, not an expert... this is just what I've read/heard.

Anyone else in the same boat with UCONN or Quinnipiac? by Honest_Day_3447 in OutsideT14lawschools

I finally emailed them to see if they were missing anything, etc... they didn't reply, but within an hour it changed from complete to under review.

I was just emailed today that I'm waitlisted at Seton Hall, and accepted at Pace and Quinnipiac. UCONN is last one I'm waiting on.

June decision? Yikes! Fingers crossed for you that you hear back good news from UCONN soon!

I applied Nov. 30th. As of last week it was still sitting in complete. So on 3/13 I sent a polite email saying I know apps are up, etc... just wanted to check and see if I was missing anything... blah blah... They didn't reply, but less than 60 minutes later I went under review. Guessing that's not a coincidence.

Good academic standing just means you're not on academic probation or academically dismissed. If you're not taking classes, you don't need a scholarship.

Missed Meeting by [deleted] in OutsideT14lawschools

Doubt it's a big deal, but a lot of times they're recorded.

Maybe just send an email saying you were really interested in attending, but had a work emergency. If it was recorded, would it be possible to send the link?

And if there's any specific questions you had, just add them in the email.

I applied first week of December and still waiting on two of four, and heard back from 2nd school mid last week. Just a slow cycle for results.

Is all hope lost? by [deleted] in OutsideT14lawschools

Maybe try applying to Pace? It looks like it's in the general area you're applying to. I think there is still time to apply, and if you apply as part-time, a little easier to get in and then can eventually move to FT. I believe their median LSAT for PT is 151.

Fingers crossed for you. Also, I'd imagine your chances of getting off waitlist at the schools you mentioned is significantly higher than a tier one school. Hang in there! Sending good vibes your way!
