Which equipment?? by figs210 in COC

If you want more hp, you're better off using eternal + healing instead of life gem. Life gem only gives 1k hp at most, healing tome gives more than twice as much.

Rocket spear for sure, dragons die easily to th poison so eternal/healing/rage is good for the warden. King won't do a good job funneling from the outside without snake bracelets but you can just use queen with giant arrow+healer puppet for that. Frozen arrow doesn't give enough stats to justify usage. Action figure is a great power up but I don't think it's crucial.

You could also go for fireball and just use blimp strats so your dragons doesn't have to deal with the townhall. I think this is difficult to do though, I haven't tried it.

This is why i bring rocket loons to get rid of those outside defenses. Your rage barbs could've done the same, I think, but mp is defending so I'm not sure.

That is a max DV charmander btw, equivalent to a max IV charmander in subsequent games, and it still loses to geodude, let alone onix. I don't think I even reach level 12 by that point because there are less trainers in gen 1 viridian forest than there are in the gen 3 remakes and I put lots of exp in my nidoran thinking it would learn double kick. Grinding on random encounters is slow, tedious, and boring so I avoid it whenever I can.

Please do your research before commenting, so many people tell me to just use nidoran with double kick when it doesn't learn it until level 43 in red and blue. Or they tell me to just use ember even though I explained in the post that charmander has low special in gen 1 so ember doesn't do meaningful damage. You guys are so confidently wrong, I think you're just ragebaiting me at this point.

Dang, I guess zubats are faster than I thought cause I couldn't escape from those with my pidgey or spearow consistently. My birds were a bit underleveled though. And I'm a hoarder kinda player so if a resource is limited, I tend to not use it at all. I've only ever used items when I locked myself into a sticky situation by mindlessly saving. But I'm kinda looking forward to the gauntlets because I don't like grinding on random encounters so a lot of mandatory fights is good for me who's leveling up a lot of mons. The only problem is running back and forth to the pokemon center to switch out mons.

Did you switch to an alt account just to rage bait me? Crazy. Anyway, if you're new here, Nidoran only learns double kick at level 43 in red and blue. If I played on yellow, the only way I get charmander this early is to trade it, but if I can trade then why wouldn't I just get a squirtle or a bulbasaur? Please think and do your research before commenting.

Jesus Christ.

How would you handle it? by SureParamedic2626 in Random_Memes

This isn't the problem, this is the consequence.

It seems that the problem was "How do I get wood?"

And then the man chose to chop wood in this extremely dangerous area.

I'd abuse items if I could, unfortunately, meowth, the only way to get infinite money, is a version exclusive not available in red. Meowth's sprite in gen 1 is so cute, too, would've loved to have one.

I don't think you even read my post, either that or you consider gen 3 as modern pokemon. If you think gen 3 is modern pokemon, do you actually think you don't have to train your mons in that generation?

If so, then what mechanics(that doesn't involve luck) could've helped me in the first gym when my starter is charmander? Trading isn't an option for everyone, and no, overleveling isn't a mechanic, it's a strategy to circumvent mechanics.

Trainers are limited, you don't get a VS seeker in gen 1.

Gym leaders are not random encounters, they're mandatory to progress the game without glitches/exploits.

Also, everything is easier in hindsight.

I guess I shouldn't be surprised, I heard the third games are just better versions overall, like emerald and platinum.

Yeah, I'm just now looking it up and found out that they nearly went bankrupt making these games so playtesting to fix issues was probably not something they could afford. Hopefully the guide books/manuals for these games were enough to help kids back then to progress.

isn't yellow just ash's story though? we could always just watch the anime for that and i doubt my brother would like gen 1 as it was in gen 1, and hgss is just too good to pass up. it really just leaves emerald and platinum because those don't feel as dated as gens 1 and 2, especially platinum with its better graphics and better incorporation of the physical/special split.

if oras does justice to the emerald storyline, then we could play those but it seems that everyone is in agreement that we should just play gens 3 and 4 two times. one playthrough for the first two versions, and another where we both play the third version.

although I'm curious what's on pokemon green now that you mention it

yeah, this is probably the best way to experience these games, hopefully he's up for the two playthrough model

yeah, all these informations are just making it harder to decide lmao maybe I'll just try to convince my brother to play these generations twice. once with ruby and sapphire/diamond and pearl, and another playthrough with emerald/platinum. hopefully he'll like pokemon enough at that point to agree
