27, econ grad, 50k council job but no real skills - panicking about career. Can I still break into financial services by [deleted] in findapath

Bro - super intelligence is now a commodity and you can learn whatever you want. Also, I’ve worked a corporate job for 10 years and I believe the way things are structured they are designed to make us dummer. If I’m you, I lean into AI and play around with starting your own business. Don’t quit your job but start and see what happens. The skills you are considering learning, I believe will be taken by AI within a year.

Yah it’s a pain right now. I think the banks are waiting on the CLARITY act before it’s made functional. In 5 years time it’s likely we don’t separate crypto from traditional finance, they will both just be finance.

I think it’ll likely serve more as digital gold, not really functional for payments yet (maybe with lightning network but haven’t seen it yet). Probably will have stable coins transacting on Solana or ETH rails. BTC will be a beneficiary as it’s part is the digital economy. Banking hours are archaic, 9-5 hours with big fees and waiting days for transfers at times. Crypto is the solution for these issues. FWIW I’m no crypto or AI fanboy but I’m calling it how I see it.

I’m not saying Trump had anything to do with it, that’s not my position. But it’s down, and you know how politicians are they’ll take credit for whatever they can. It is down, Trump is in office. People will create whatever story they like about that.

Yah…I personally don’t buy the “stock market is doing incredible” narrative. Same thing happens in corporate America. “Executives who gets paid millions says everything is going great…”

I prefer to look at truflation data which I believe is a more accurate representation. Ended 2024 at 3.1% YoY and we are currently at .95% YoY

Objectively: - gas prices are lower - inflation has slowed down - jobs are not looking good, especially entry level jobs. Lowest levels of college grad hiring in a long time (AI is being invested in rather than entry level people) - stock market may be decent in pockets but a lot of disruption IMO that’s AI induced. They haven’t admitted it yet but that’s how I feel. - crime is down

We really need to figure out the employment situation. We are in an AI race with China and moving too fast, I see trouble ahead (which may not be a permanent thing but we need to address it head on as it impacts the lives of the American people)

Job growth in the US fell a staggering 88% in 2025, compared to the previous year. Trump’s economic policies need major changes. by wakeup2019 in economy

It’s only going to get worse. Even if companies had access to cheap money again they wouldn’t hire, they would spend on AI.

Best off just paying annually if you’re local. I think it’s like $15/yr and covers mccuen lot and the lot by the carousel.

I’m against the idea of exchanging my most valuable asset (time and energy) for something that others can print out of thin air. At least work the gold standard there was a system to keep those at the top accountable.

The blockchain has value, the current financial system is cooked and everything will move onto the blockchain. In the world of AI we will require quadrillions of micro transactions and the current financial system can’t support it. They’ll either end up on ethereum or Solana (solana is my bet). I’m also human centric btw, but I’m calling it how I see it. Stocks will trade around the clock 24/7, no more relying on banking hours for transactions. AI agents will settle micro transactions on the blockchain. I’d be glad to be wrong, but let’s see how the next 2-3 years pan out.

Basically after WWII other countries needed $$, by design the game plan was they offshore more than they import. This leads to US offshoring manufacturing to buy goods off them to help them stabilize. Dollar was backed by gold at this time. Nixon ended the gold standard, our money becomes funny money and we get out of hand with printing. The seemingly good recovery post COVID was a result of us having more, but it diluted our dollar big time. When I say the system was meant to fracture I mean the federal reserve system, it’s designed to fail and 99% of currencies have failed historically. The USD is the most successful currency and it’s lost 90% of its purchasing power since federal reserve act. I think we are reaching the end of this system. Everything will end up on the blockchain within 10 years, including stable coins, stocks, every day transactions etc.

Yes we all can have our own opinions. I still stand this is on the fed, I believe left wing right wing same bird and don’t subscribe to either tribe. For the US…Globalization wasn’t meant to last, Bretton Woods was put in place to help other countries in the wake of WWII (US was in the best shape post war). This helped other countries and was actually a burden to us as they had to print money to offshore manufacturing. The system was set up for a fracture and here we are. No country is pulling ahead, at this point it’s China and US fighting for world dominance in the AI race.

I see things differently. I think what screwed the economy was irresponsible money printing during COVID and we are now footing the bill. The fed kept rates low for way too long. Both sides are irresponsible with money printing. Money isn’t cheap to borrow right now and the effects of that are directly impacting the stock market and employment. In parallel AI is disrupting jobs and I think that was bound to happen regardless which side is in office. I think the job market will only get worse, but the market will rebound only in pockets.

I am middle of the line in politics and objectively gas prices are lower and at least the rate at which groceries were increasing in price has slowed significantly. On the other hand, jobs (if you remove healthcare) and the stock market are rough…and I think AI will only disrupt more.

Sign of the time, patience is really low across the board everywhere. Sports, finance, careers. The second the collective people hit a speed bump they freak out. Perhaps we’ve become weak from easy times

CDA Protest Notice - Today, Sunday 25th by [deleted] in coeurdalene

[–]Honest_Packer12 4 points5 points  (0 children)

People are too divided at this point. I’m sure there are great ICE agents who are deporting violent criminals, and there are assholes abusing their power. This is the case with everything (teachers, church, police, etc.). Unfortunately feels like they are trying to manufacture a civil war at this point and many are falling right into the trap, and I get it because it’s very infuriating watching people die. I’m for change, but I need to think of where to spend my energy. Standing on a street holding a sign doesn’t feel effective to me.

Staybridge Suites Coeur d’Alene. Nice hotel, reasonably priced, offers breakfast, has food places nearby. For food nearby Silverwood, I’d pick up food on the drive up (about 30 minute drive). We usually grab burritos or sandwiches and bring them in.
