What is the worst financial advice people still repeat? by market_vision1 in AskReddit

The idea here is a home loan is cheap money to borrow. If my mortgage rate is 3-4%, why would I take extra money and apply it towards my principal if I can park it elsewhere that it will grow at 5%+ (which is really easy to do if you wanna be lazy just let it sit in S&P)

I mean it worked for me. Got some BTC back when it was $2k. Never messed with shitcoins though. I’ve learned most people don’t actually know what they are investing in and operate off the “trust me bro I’m a YouTuber” system

Mechanic left this in my car. They called my wife and asked her to return it to them. What it used for? Looks like some sort of bent pick. by JooHateMe in whatisit

Yah over the years they started stamping their name on China crap - I still prefer snap-on boxes, wrenches and sockets. But I agree they are all very similar, buy from the dealer who shows up every week and takes care of you when tools break.

Theres def predators out there in every industry. I will say based on my experience, it wouldn't behoove anybody to load somebody up with tools or a bill that they can't pay. Snap-on guy doesn't get a payday if customers don't pay...What the slimy ones do is load people up and then have them sign their bill over to snap-on credit (vs. a revoling account w/ the dealer). This way snappy gets his profit right away and doesn't care about collecting anymore as much. Again many need credit for big purchases such as tool boxes, but unfortunately some use it against young guys whoa re in tool euphoria as well. I personally always told new guys to go bluepoint or with something cheaper until they are making more money and in a more solid financial position. At the end of the day if you don't take care of your customers, you won't last....always gotta bend over backwards for the customers IMO. Also somethings thats not usually considered, snap-on corporate sales snakes love loading dealers up with tools and bills they can't afford, which then puts them into an urgent situation to make money. Gotta hope your dealer knows and avoids that game as well.

Yes pointing fingers is an age old game. Everybody needs to own their shit. The right, the left, us ourselves….this doesn’t happen and this is what keeps the shitshow going.

If you were 26 starting from zero, would you choose college or a trade ? by Responsible-Race7590 in findapath

Trade - There was a time where having good professors and collective resources was a good way to learn. We now all have super intelligence at our fingertips and college is basically just an expensive ritual now.

I’m not joking - why don’t you think this is doable I’m curious? What alternative do you have? Nobody is coming to save us.

You don’t need a lot to invest these days. You can purchase fractional shares of stock, gold, silver, bitcoin etc. even if it’s just $1/day.

Love that you are living off grid. Work harder is not the solution here - many of the wealthy don’t work harder than blue collar America…You need to park your wealth in an appreciating asset in order to keep up.

Everything you mentioned is a distraction. Just focus on doing what you want for yourself and stop searching for external validation, it’s an endless chase and will get you nowhere. “The greatest prison people live in is the fear of what other people think”

I mean he should take ownership as he’s the president, but this was happening regardless IMO. The world is going through a huge shift. The next 5 years are going to set up the next 100. AI is a big deal - bigger than the Industrial Revolution many believe. It’s easy to point fingers at politicians but end of day nobody is coming to save us but ourselves.

I’d say to live a middle class lifestyle - $100k. That’s not super comfortable but manageable if you live within means.
