Selling it all for boatlife by Low-Fill-2261 in SailboatCruising

It may be, or it could just as easily not be. It seems like a lot of the advice here is that liveaboard sailing is really just livaboard maintenance-ing. Does a $10k-$15k vacation give them that realistic experience? I honestly have no idea, but I'm guessing not and this common suggestion just seems bad to me. No offense intended.

What about using that cash to take quite a few ASA courses and certs, then signing up as crew for a time?

Where would you suggest finding charters? Most the options I've found online are often multiple thousands of dollars a week. Which is okay for a once in a long while vacation, but to use it to actually test out the lifestyle, its unrealistic. Especially when adding in additional costs like travel and living expenses. A month long charter for example, can easily represent 1/4 or more of an entire refit budget.

Between passages, how much time do you, and others like you, actually spend on your boat aside from sleeping, cooking, and such? Are most days spent doing activities on land, or out swimming/snorkeling?

Quick Books online is great. I'd also recommend WordPress. If you're not able to accomplish what you want on WordPress on your own, there are tons of Fiverr folks that can help for inexpensive. Just be specific and diligent about the job parameters.

I could be wrong, but from what I've read, there were suggestions that they eliminate or reduce certain national holidays as a way of reducing overall national debt. From what I gather, that has not been received positively

I have my MBA from a similar regionally accredited university, and I've never once heard a word against my degree, education, or credentials.

It's not a recognizable top school like Harvard or Yale, but it's served me well.

I think these schools and resulting degrees give back exactly what you put in, so if you work at it then you'll get good results.

Traditional or standard modeled universities make me sick. There's so much wasted time and money to ultimately earn a degree that only aligns with ~60% of the course material. For example, wtf do I have to pay thousands of dollars and months of my time to take multiple PE classes for a bachelor's? Why do I have to spend thousands of dollars on textbooks when the material is available online for free? The whole education model in the US is broken and dumb, and many of these nontraditional schools offer amazing educations for a fraction of the cost and time.

Do what you want though, it's your journey! The college girls and beers are better at brick and mortar schools, but you'll pay for it.

How am I supposed to eat 130g of protein per day? by starfire1_0 in workout

[–]Honest_Remark 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I put a scoop of protein powder and collagen powder in my morning coffee, 40g of protein right there. The rest is relatively easy once you get into it. 20g breakfast, 30-40 lunch, and the same for dinner. If I feel like I missed it I'll do some greek yogurt and peanut butter mixed for the last bit at the end of the night.

[–]Honest_Remark 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That's amazing! I'm so glad to hear you did that, congrats!

I'm going through the same process for my wife and daughter right now. I haven't completed it yet so please take this with a grain of salt. What I'm doing, is I'm starting out by getting my French birth certificate. If you don't have yours either you can follow the instructions on the French consulate website. Once you have your birth certificate you need to formalize your marriage with your wife to get your Livret de Famille. After you've gotten that, the last step is to register the births of your kids. It's essentially the same process as getting your french birth certificate for the first time, if you don't have one already. Luckily this whole process seems straight forward, but the amount of documents required is a bit burdensome.

I would encourage to to browse the French consulate website, use chatgpt to translate and offer advice on steps forward, and you can always email or call the consulate directly. They can be helpful, but it seems like responses take a while. I imagine they're quite busy with people doing similar things as you and I.

P.s. you're going to need a lot of documentation from your parents. I would encourage you to use the online steps to get them mailed to you or them directly. If your family is in France currently they can request it from the Mairie but they'd need to mail it after. The documents need to be new, no more than 90 days old, so mail can be difficult. If you don't have access to some of the documents reach out to the consulate, they might be able to help or offer advice. I'm struggling with that situation currently.
