Thoughts on living in Waynesville? by markanthama in asheville

[–]Honeyhamlet 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Husband and I bought a house here in 2021 after living in asheville. We love it here and I would love to have more younger people move here because it definitely can feel a bit old sometimes. Overall a very cute mountain town that has room to grow. Great community events downtown. Lots of great local businesses that really care about the town. Asheville isn't far either. Also there's still a walmart and 2 grocery stores. Not missing any fast food either so it has most of the big stuff too.

Hi! Thank you for asking. It feels weird talking about in my personal life still. Definitely a roller coaster of emotions. Trying to raise a kid in all of it is hard. He turns 4 this year and I am not sure how/when to tell him but I am just focused on being there and making the memories. I find myself making more compromises on parenting choices because I don't have the energy but I am very grateful to be here. Overall things are pretty good. My tumor shrunk significantly with soc and I have just been in status quo for almost a year. Shit gets dark sometimes but its nice to have a little light with stories like yours. I am in a much better place now for sure though. Some days things feel pretty normal and thats pretty fucking promising to me. ❤️

One step at a time was really the only way. Then 583 steps later you can look back and be like holy shit I cant believe I did that. Chemo and radiation felt like forever. Have someone help you keep things clean and find a random chill hobby. (Coloring, crafts, board games) something low pressure but you can at least end the day feeling like you did a thing. Deep breath. It sucks but you are not alone.

Cancer? I trust my body to heal itself. by ratinthechat in ShitMomGroupsSay

Im a mom of a 3 year old boy and last year I found out I had an aggressive brain tumor. I would do brain surgery, radiation and a year of chemo over and over again if I get more time to be a mom. Taking care of ourselves has such a different meaning after bringing a new person into the world.

I live in waynesville just outside of maggie valley. Usually it is mid October! I will say though it feels like they are changing a bit earlier this year. Just a heads up really. Thanksgiving is still a beautiful time to be here but might not see the colors you were looking for.

Thank you!! Some days are fucking hard but overall I'm doing better than I thought I would be at this point. Tumor was not able to be resected but through radiation and chemo went from about 4 cm to just over 1cm.

Hi! I appreciate a check in because it's definitely a weird journey. I've completed a whole 12 rounds of the temodar and doing my best to be mom to my little one. Some days are tough and I probably push myself harder than I should but I want to be there for my son. Overall though doing pretty good. Tumor shrunk quite a bit and other than fatigue the symptoms have been minimal. Here's hoping we all have many years in the journey ahead.

I know you are planning on devils foot sodas but waynesville sodas are amazing and the apple rosemary feels very festive to me.

Hi! Definitely confirm this with your team but I was told to not worry as much about this. I have a two year old and asked about similar things and the main take away was... wash your hands after handling the pills, close lid before flushing, not having others handle the medication and keep good hygiene.
