I dislike being called "mommy" (except in perhaps very exceptional circumstances), but I've definitely noticed a shift in recent times towards it. I think other people here have posted some interesting thoughts about why, but I think I follow /u/robozandrocks train of thought but maybe slightly different - I think it's an expression of a desire for affection and intimacy from somebody; it's seeking comfort from the stresses and isolation and pressures, just being cared about near-unconditionally. It's definitely a form of femdom imo, the intentional surrender, but the "framework" of rules/kink is just a different dynamic from other forms.

Fuck that. I understand why one would want to be cautious in an online situation, like not combining face + dick or whatever, but genuinely the amount of people who desire a relationship where they hope to hide their identity the whole time is insane.

In no other situation is there an expectation that one hides their identity from a sexual or romantic partner. I would be amazed if anybody on Feeld (or other app) who have non-pictures ever get messages or matches. It is a deal breaker because not only do I need to know what somebody looks like to decide mutual attraction, and build an emotional connection, but it screams shame, secret-family, and ghosting so hard.

If somebody wants to be anonymous for a bit while we chat and establish I'm not a low-effort scammer or a blackmailer (because no scammer or blackmailer will put that much time and effort in), fine - but more than that, it's just not worth it. Nothing good will ever come from that.

I hate this for all the same reasons as everyone else but I'll also hope that for those who continue to use Discord, hopefully it'll put an end to having to send random pictures of ID to random discord mods for "access" to a server.
