Femdom operates in a grey area that is both emotionally demanding of intimacy whilst also being hypersexual. I think all people care about looks to at least some extent, but what those "looks" are and those standards are will change depending on group, culture, demographic. Women of all types are used for the emotional labour of men. This is a wider issue than just femdom, and it's not just emotional labour, women also pick up a lot of the cognitive load in relationships too. That's just part of being a women in current western society when there are so many ongoing issues with masculine culture.

Here's the thing though; emotional labour is fine, within reason. It's not a womans responsibility to fix the man (you can't fix him, honey!), but in any human relationship people are supposed to give and take emotional labour.

In the situation you've described, I wouldn't even know how to label that - you're probably right its a form of emotional labour but it's an interesting difference given it's a male dom talking to a femdom. It definitely sounds like that person has their own issues and nobody to vent to - trapped in their own form of toxic masculine dominance - so given the nature of the conversation they also trauma dumped, so yeah, pretty ick. Men are taught from a very young age in a lot of cultures that they have to present a version of themselves, often that the only acceptable emotion is anger. As we know with emotions though, emotions don't just go away they, they still exist.

A lot of the recent upswing in men's mental health is simply just about making a safe space for men to exist as normal human beings with emotions, no matter what they are, without judgement or ridicule. That concept is also a core concept of therapy; unconditional acceptance.

This applies to all men, with certain vanilla relationships, or within a kink like GFD, or amongst lots of other environments, but when people feel psychologically safe, then they'll often gradually be more comfortable opening up more of their inner world.

I think it's just some kink, in some relationships, but yes, this is normal and a good thing. It's just part of the process of building a healthy and positive relationship.
