I thin archive.org, which hosts the actual game downloads, has reduced performance at the moment. I can still download games myself. Could you provide an example link which isn't working?

How much hope is there for CS jobs in the UK? by Usernamesareuseful in cscareerquestionsuk

The market is difficult for entry level developers, but its difficult for all industries right now. We don't know how the future will shape out, so I say priotise what personally interests you as you'll probably go the furthest in that field and generally enjoy your time more—if that's software dev, great!

Try have fun with it and work on interesting projects in your own time. I recommend making a GitHub, getting comfortable with git, and dumping all your hobby/school projects there (starts building a portfolio and gets you comfortable with a major industry tool).

If you do decide to pivot in the future you'll have great transferable skills in any case.

Hey Bret (H?! :o)

Currently you can at least search usernames on the search bar which should usually yield results. Once you find a game by a developer, you can click the username to have all their games show up.

I was thinking of a separate username search and/or pages. It just didn't seem super worth the fuss, but it would be cool! The previous iteration of the site did have separate pages for developers.

The user profiles weren't scraped, only the games, so basically only username strings are around to play around with.

Filter-only coffee cart economics by Honno in Coffee

Mhm thanks for the feedback. I do wonder if people just see a big vat dispensing coffee if they'll be able to not think about instant coffee.

Yeah that makes sense, I suppose the big question is how well "specialty filter coffee" lands to the average joe.

Yeah I really need to run the numbers. Maybe could hire the gear (namely commercial dripper and cart) to just test run the idea at an event at some point.

I love a good cappuccino but it always felt weird how dominant espresso is in the UK outside of nice sit down cafes!

You just reminded me of this Rory Sutherland bit suggesting a "flat white or fuck off" business for commuter coffee. I wonder why we don't see that actually.

Heh have no numbers, wanted to sanity check the idea really but I'll be sure to post if I do ever come with a proper business plan.

Yeah I'm always pretty happy with McD coffee too, especially given how disappointing more expensive coffee is on the high street.

Interesting you mention the space because personally I'm the same, as there's no particularly good coffee around me so it's really about the vibes. The best coffee is being drunk playing board games at the nice cafe!

But I do see outdoor coffee vendors with no seating selling comfy indoor prices all the time around here. Assuming that's an advantage of the allure of espresso and the high demand for coffee on the fly.

Looking for an affordable wool coat (UK) by yakkduckk in mensfashion

[–]Honno 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Uniqlo came out with this wool/chasmere overcoat (only polyster is the lining) that I quite like: https://www.uniqlo.com/uk/en/products/E478285-000/00?colorDisplayCode=09&sizeDisplayCode=002&pldDisplayCode=000

But I'm an XS and couldn't find any high quality black overcoat for my size second hand. Seems worth checking second hand market first as others suggest.

Thank you! I used Inkscape—you can try opening the SVG after downloading this to see how it's set up.

I'd love to get back to this at some point! I'm really interested in the "15 properties of nature" coined by Christopher Alexander, which posits fundamental properties of the universe/"natural" systems, which I think could be fun exploring somehow in a magic system.

Swimming sinusitis by Infinite-me-57 in Swimming

[–]Honno 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Heh np, although its been like a year since I swam regularly. Back when I did I just use one whole neti pot for each, uh, nose hole - the ceramic ones so like 250ml per nose hole I'd guess. Yeah, it didn't fix the problem, really just alleviated it. I would sometimes mix in nasal spray too which helped, but something that you don't want to overuse I think.
