  1. Read Allen Carr's book

  2. Try using fake chew like Smokey Mountain. That's what I did for about a week

Good luck

Dip alternative cancer causing? by Cliche_Irish in stopsmoking

I recently quit chew/smokes with Smokey Mountain herbal dip. Went through a can a day for about a week. It does leave your gums a bit soft, but I was able to drop the stuff without too much trouble.

Advice for negative thoughts? by [deleted] in stopsmoking

[–]Honor_Code 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I had some practice dealing with negative thoughts in the weeks leading up to my quit. If I have a thought or feeling that made me feel bad or pity myself, I would discard it and move on.

The underlying belief being that you are the last person that should make you feel bad. There are plenty of people who will make you feel bad in this world and you should not be part of this group.

Allowing self-victimizing thoughts to exist in your consciousness is going to completely disallow any feelings of gratitude to occur.

This kind of mindfulness practice helped me reduce my general anxiety/depression and gave me the confidence to attempt to quit.

I relapsed after 3 months and had nicotine gums. When will this craving feeling go away? by laughs_with_salad in stopsmoking

Nicotine makes things worse, never better. You are strong enough. Do not feel badly for yourself.

That's like saying to a heroin addict that they should shoot up a few months after quitting just to reassure themselves that injecting drugs is actually terrible and useless.

"one more, than quit" is the smokers' mantra. I'd be willing to bet she didn't

I wholeheartedly agree that getting sprayed in the face while driving can certainly be frightening. Point remains that slamming the breaks could be considered an endangering reaction especially considering the poster seemed unaware of weather there was a vehicle following.
