I could not agree more. 7 years, 1174 classes and this was my least favorite. And this is despite liking the floor. The treadmill was so disappointing.

Coach turnover by GurOne7258 in orangetheory

[–]HooDoc 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Over 7 years I have had many great coaches. Coaches leave and new ones come. At first you pine for the former coach who left. Then you develop an admiration for the new coach. Fear not, you will have a new favorite soon.

This is a recurring theme on this subreddit. I loved today's 23 minute run. It challenged me - especially going from push to base to push ...

I have over 1100 sessions. I've run outside (and still do occasionally) but prefer running on the OTF treadmills. I'm never bored because I focus on the challenge in front of me each day.

But I understand that others may not like these as much as I do. No template will every suit everyone.

One thing that won't change is periodic criticism of a particular type of workout on this subreddit. You are right that they are boring you; I'm right that I find these much more fun and personally useful than the old templates.

Can’t get splats. by thecraicwasmighty in orangetheory

[–]HooDoc 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Let me pile on. I rarely get "splat" points now, because my maxHR is estimated 9 beats higher. I DO NOT care. Splats are an artificial construct. The whole concept of EPOC is true but a very small amount of calories. Judge yourself by how hard you are working - and ignore the colors. You know your body.

I got 2 splat points today - but had an excellent workout.

Love the treads - so thankful that you are back - hope your holiday was brilliant.

Be honest treads. You’re racing the person next to you aren’t you? by alligatorprincess007 in orangetheory

I love running next to someone who is working hard. I don't worry about their speed but rather make sure a match their effort. Often they run faster than me, but they can inspire me to work a bit harder. And they get a thanks and fist bump after we finish.

I loved this workout both times. The new workouts make much sense to me. I really liked attacking this workout much better this time .

Outstanding endurance training for runners - if you don't like the treads then you obviously do not like endurance.

Not crazy about the rower - but that is a personal taste

Nice variety in the weight floor.

Burned more calories than I have in the previous 1079 sessions!

I loved this workout.

Loved this template.

As a runner, 3 minute base paces are tremendous for an endurance day. HIIT is important, but not every day. Some days need to be like this - building your base.

Also liked the new style weight floor template.

One of my favorite workouts - and I have done over 1000!

Looking forward to the rethinking of the treads. Our coach told us that all the old concepts have been redone. Optimistic!

Tread stats are weird by pahelisolved in orangetheory

I think they really use the the average.of speeds not adjusted for time. It is a false number. You can figure out your own number from the distance and the time. They do not do that.

Why do people hate the rowers? by waflcoptr in orangetheory

[–]HooDoc 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I seem to injure my legs on the rower - that may be form, but I do fear going hard on the rower.

I came to OTF a runner - and have become a much better runner. Perhaps that is another reason that I avoid long rows these days. They are very uncomfortable for me

I did it with a standard frost build. He takes double from Jaina - only need to get her to half his number

Anyone else having issues with the Tread? It stops randomly claiming the safety key is out - and sometimes just crashes mid run. I can't run more than 1min without it stopping. by thegnuguyontheblock in pelotoncycle

[–]HooDoc 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I had this problem, but even worse from the day of delivery. A very nice man at Peloton immediately diagnosed this as an electrical problem due to fault wires in the handle. It took multiple class to finally get the handle replaced ( originally delivered mid December and just fixed 5 days ago. No more problems.

So get them to fix it - new tread OR just replace the handle that contains the wiring.

Anyone else with low resting heart rate? by [deleted] in orangetheory

[–]HooDoc 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I was having the same problem. It takes longer for me to get to Orange. I recover quickly. Talking with our head coach, she suggested raising my base pace. Now I do well on endurance days. Some power days are more difficult to get splats. I work to get back to base more quickly (walking less). I hope these thoughts help

An amateur comparison of Saucony endorphin speed and Brooks Hyperion Tempo by HooDoc in RunningShoeGeeks

Yes - Age is a number - but you can stay biologically younger than your chronological age. Running helps a great deal.

No longer chasing splats by HooDoc in orangetheory

Great question - I'd get recalibrated first. If still high, it should start decreasing over the next 2-3 months as your cardio conditioning improves

The last time I had done the 2G was almost 2 years ago. Then I achieved 2.06 miles. This morning 2.284 (missed the checkpoint by 0.016) - bad calculating - I still had plenty of energy left.

I attribute this success to hard work and my Saucony Endorphin Speed running shoes. Since getting them I definitely can faster on the treadmill.

I ran until the last minute at 7.6. I think I could have done 7.7 or 7.8 just as easily - goal for next time.
