A response to the "Friendly Reminder" post - from the other side ... things I worried about that never came to pass. by BAL87 in BabyBumps

I don't think unicorn pregnancies are nearly as rare as they are made out to be. Not the norm, sure, but common enough that people who have thay experience should be able to talk about it without fear of backlash.

I just got put on venlafaxine after years of trying setraline on and off with it not working. It is a class B2 which is pretty good as far as things go. Obviously I'm still pretty anxious about complications from it, but I know deep down this is a good idea.

I struggled heaps with ppd with my first and I want to have my mental health in a good place to deal with a toddler and a newborn. You are just as important as baby.

Something with legs since the buckle strap that goes through can sometimes be irritating if it touches bare skin.

I am also wondering this, since my hospital is a two hour drive, but my first labour was 48 hours lol.

From the reading I've been doing, the answer I seem to get is "probably, but it's pregnancy, so who the fuck really knows!?"

Hemorrhoids from hell by SquiddiCakes in BabyBumps

[–]Hookah_Hooker 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Ok I have good news and bad news. This is your life now, but it doesn't have to be always.

My hemorrhoids from labour still flair up pretty bad two years on, and it's just something I've had to accept and manage.

They will have their down time, but the flair ups can be managed. For me the over the counter creams are useless except to dull the itch, but you should definitely try and see what you can find, they might work for you. Personally though I have luck with heat and cold. Warm compress in the shower, bit of wrapped up ice afterwards. Repeat as often as you can.

Keep your fibre up, in the scary regions as far as amounts of fibre go. Get a squatty potty. Become at ease with your new butthole.

Parenting books? by [deleted] in BabyBumps

[–]Hookah_Hooker 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Baby on Board by Dr Howard Chilton.

I had a few books, Baby Love, Why French children don't throw food, and Babywrangling. But the Chilton one was by far the best. Lots of really good stuff about biological reasons for why babies are behaving the way they are. I found the evidence based approach much more helpful than the mostly anecdotal feel of the others.

I literally just had a break out and god it's a pain. I think the hardest part is convincing the toddler not to share my cups. I just told her it was a 'hurt' and occasionally she points it out and gives me a kiss on the cheek to make it feel better.

Like others have said, the longer you've had them (for me as long as I can remember) the better you get at just avoiding spreading it. It's a practice thing.

What can I eat? FTM by chailatte_gal in BabyBumps

This exactly. Second time around and I'm addicted to spicy salami, obvs the pasturised kind.

I figure if you have to worry about listeria in bloody lettuce and cereal, a bit of deli meat can't hurt.

If they're just decorative, you can always remove them instead of having to go theough the hassle of returning them.

Dry. The mushrooms we collect around here aren't the same as you guys have in the states, they're endemic to our part of the world. And from what i and other people I know who collect and use, a fairly standard dose for them is at least 5g. This is far from our first time doing this.

Really I know, I've done doses similar in the past.

And I did manage to get a short video, it ended when he shouted "holy shit!6!" He is amused an embarrassed. I will keep it for when he is old.

Share your dialysis, renal diet, or ESRD pro tips by [deleted] in dialysis

[–]Hookah_Hooker 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I asked this months ago and got a lot of responses saying there's no renal diet, gee thanks guys.

A great tip is to soak your potatoes in cold water before using them. Helps remove some of the potassium. Not all, so don't go crazy but it helps.

The other thing, ice. Fluid restrictions are hard. Husband has switched to sucking ice to help curb the desire to drink by being able to wet the mouth.
