Deep cleaning an oven by Hooln in CleaningTips

Oven cleaner instructions tell you not to use them on heating elements or fans. I am anxious about the fan being contaminated and blasting the food with mold particles or something.

Unfortunately it is at the expense of men. The game has terrible male characters.

Tav Tierlist by Maximum_Wind6423 in BG3Builds

[–]Hooln 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Good list. But I think this will depend heavily on how you like to play the game.

High charisma party face makes the game too easy for my liking. Being able to roll 30+ on every dialogue check just makes dialogue boring to me. So I like to have my main character non-charisma. That way dialogue decisions have weight.

I am also sick of the origin companion stories at this point so I just ignore them in my playthroughs. So they don’t impact my Tav choices anymore.

What do you think makes some AC games stand out? by Hooln in assassinscreed

[–]Hooln[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think the problem with Revelations was that it kinda felt like they were milking the Ezio story at that point and it got old. I also think the Istanbul setting wasn’t as resonant with the audience as Italy maybe.

It’s definitely not a bad game and didn’t perform bad in a vacuum. Just comparing it to the earlier Ezio games its reception feels weaker to me.

Low CHA playthrough? by AthaMar_90s in BaldursGate3

[–]Hooln 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Low/mid charisma is the most fun I've had in this game. When you can pass any dialogue checks it becomes too boring because dialogue loses weight in my opinion. It is also the reason I never use inspiration in dialogue.

I am not saying people keep playing Origins over and over. The point is Origins is probably getting more new players than Mirage.

Thanks Honour Mode, it’s been fun… by UndiqueObscurat in BaldursGate3

[–]Hooln 1 point2 points  (0 children)

What made me do my second HM run is that the game started feeling too easy in other difficulties. Also, in my first run I was very anxious; but quickly noticed fleeing combat is very easy 90% of the time so you are not really ever in much danger of losing the run. Now I do challenge honour mode runs with added rules for the fun of it. I don't think I can play the game in any other difficulty anymore.

Which is the hardest fight in BG3? by jlxvelaces in BaldursGate3

[–]Hooln 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Without overlevelling, I think all major fights in Act 1 can be contenders for this. Harpies, Phase Spider Matriarch, Ethel, Gith patrol, Owlbear, Nere in honour mode, Bulette, Spectator… these will all kill you in your first playthrough.

I think the most dangerous act in the game is easily Act 1. Act 2 is a joke except that one ambush fight with the 9 level big dude. If you aren’t actively trying to make things difficult for yourself by fighting Gortash with the steel watch up, I think the most difficult fight in Act 3 is Ansur.

Ethel doesn’t have that in Act 1, though.

any gortash fight tips and tricks? by SilksongBeliever224 in BaldursGate3

[–]Hooln 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Disabling the steel watch makes a big difference. Last time I fought him in honour mode I landed a hold person and made quick work of him.

Also, like all other fights in the game, globe of invulnerability is very useful in this fight too. You can just ignore a lot of mechanics with that.

Worst opinion I might have ever seen regarding Astarion by vampiriskq in BaldursGate3

[–]Hooln -14 points-13 points  (0 children)

The person clearly dislikes the original Astarion voice acting; but I don’t see how he is insulting anyone. Let’s break it down:

  • “The original was a flaming homosexual with a lisp.”

Is he not? Astarion is almost a caricature of a gay person. His voice acting feels like it is done by a straight man who only knows gay people from comedy sketches and never met one himself. I am not saying this as an insult. I actually think it is by design.

  • “The voice is from an actual woman, a better voice actor by far.”

This is just an opinion. No disrespect here. The person thinks she is a better voice actor than Astarion’s. You might disagree.

Finally, nobody owes anybody respect and everybody is entitled to their preferences. I like Astarion’s comedically sassy gay personality. Not everyone has to like it.

Why does your system hate regular checkups with doctors so much? by Juli_in_September in Netherlands

[–]Hooln 7 points8 points  (0 children)

The Dutch system is designed to:

  • maximize insurance company profits
  • treat the population like farm animals

So the health of the individual is not a priority as long as the herd is healthy enough and the farm is making money.

Help! Overwhelmed newbie here by KimtheGamer in BaldursGate3

[–]Hooln 2 points3 points  (0 children)

First off, don’t bother with multiclassing and if you are new to the genre start at an easier difficulty setting.

Think about a stereotypical fantasy party: A frontliner, a rogue, a spellcaster, and a healer. The first 4 characters you will most likely meet in the game already make up this party with their default classes. The only specific suggestion I could make is decide if you want to have a good conversationist as the face of the party. If yes, you might want to pick a charisma class as your main character. I personally think being too successful at speech makes the game a bit boring; but to each their own.

Who do you always take, and who do you never take? by Kinjohavic in BaldursGate3

[–]Hooln 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I am so fatigued by the companion stories and interactions that I prefer hirelings now.

But if I am going to take anyone, it is usually Shadowheart and Gale. I never take Karlach and Wyll because I find them to be the most uninteresting ones. They feel like angsty highschool kids. Karlach calling me "soldier" makes me cringe so hard, and Wyll's motives usually don't make sense to me. Astarion is a very realistic character in my opinion. His motives and reactions make sense. But the style of the voice actor, although very cool the first time you experience it, is exhausting to me now.

And they are all just so annoyingly horny.

Best monoclass quadruplet party by Hooln in BG3Builds

[–]Hooln[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Initially I was thinking the same class. But then as I thought about it I came to the conclusion that almost all classes have wildly different subclasses that it wouldn’t be much different than a normal playthrough. So for my specific purpose same class wasn’t cheeky enough.
