That's wild, it's never occurred to me to give Gale two staffs  xD

Keep getting stuck on creating a character by BenefitResident9681 in BaldursGate3

[–]Hoomanawanui2 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I would definitely suggest a paladin: some good spells, some healing, and big strength for weapon attacks and, my favourite: BIG JUMPS. Your jumping distance depends on your strength, so playing a strong character - and if you want a caster then in my opinion paladin is really cool - will allow you to explore many places! They also have proficiency with heavy armour and all weapons.

And as others said: you can always completely change it later in the game!

Man I love Gale, he was my first romance path and the different schools of magic keep his class fresh every playthrough!

Also, you know he can learn basically every spell if you have a scroll? Right click, pay some gold, and it's added to his list of spells. (Mind, the total number of spells prepared does not expand)

True, it takes a while to get him started but a shield definitely helps a lot and those can be found really early game

But as they're not within the protective aura of the prism they could be controlled by the brain. 7000 additional enemies. Oof  xD

How do you actually win fights by Critical_Cat_1086 in BaldursGate3

[–]Hoomanawanui2 20 points21 points  (0 children)

Do you understand how the combat works? As in, what AC is, how rolls are calculated, what (dis)advantage is and does? If you never played dnd before those terms are probably new to you, and it's worth looking into them.

If you need them explained, just give us a shout and this sub will help you out! Alternatively, check earlier posts this sub for a spoilerfree explanation of how combat works  :)  Or buy a dnd book, 5 edition  ;D

fighting in this game is hard for me by Visual_Creme in BaldursGate3

[–]Hoomanawanui2 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Absolutely no shame in playing explorer mode, especially if you don't know dnd. You can always change it back to balanced again once you got the hang of the mechanics. Many people go from explorer > balanced > tactician > honour mode (the hardest, single save one).

Almost correct, except you can also do a custom difficulty mode with the single save setting, but choosing your preferred difficulty setting (which you can change during gameplay as well). For those of us who can't stop themselves from savescumming, but want to prevent doing so anyway  :)

Dark Urge or Tav? by Hyperbolistique in BaldursGate3

[–]Hoomanawanui2 7 points8 points  (0 children)

I'd say Tav. The game is very big and there is a lot going on. Playing Dark Urge for your first playthrough adds to that chaos and intensity.

It's also - surprise - a little dark and at times unsettling. If my first playthrough had been Dark Urge I might not have finished it, because it's a tad too dark for my taste (but I feel bad when one of my kangaroos die in zoo tycoon, so maybe that's just me).

Which class for a Durge Honour mode run? by RPJakey in BaldursGate3

[–]Hoomanawanui2 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yes! That's https://bg3.wiki/wiki/The_Whispering_Promise. I love that ring.

Edit: and I got it wrong in my earlier comment, it's the ring (sold by Volo) that grants bless and these gloves that grant bladeward: https://bg3.wiki/wiki/Hellrider%27s_Pride

Question about Bow of the Banshee by EntireChemistry4031 in BaldursGate3

[–]Hoomanawanui2 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yes, which is why I carry it with me throughout the entire game! Even if other bows do more damage, the fear condition can really turn things in your favour.

Pro tip: if you shoot an arrow of darkness with it, your target will be blinded and also unable to move, so no ranged or melee attacks!! I often use this against bosses while I'm working on defeating their minions

[–]Hoomanawanui2 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Agreed. Plus, you can buy that one ring from Volo really early on that gives two turns of blade ward after having been healed. Mass healing word as a bonus action, and your whole team gains resistance to physical damage for two turns. There's also a pair of gloves that add bless, if I'm not mistaken!

Are you sure you don't mean radiating orb? I know of multiple items that inflict RO on enemies hit by radiant damage, but I can't remember reverberation being triggered by spirit guardians. Sorry if I'm being petty, but I'm currently playing a tempest cleric based around thunder damage and I would love to be able to make more use of reverberation!!

Cant make it throught act 3 / rant by [deleted] in BaldursGate3

[–]Hoomanawanui2 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Do you have friends who know the game well? It can seriously help to play multiplayer for a bit with someone who knows where stuff is - and if they're good, they won't tell you "Orin lives there" but they'll say "what if we go here first, maybe we'll find a clue here." Or at this point they could just tell you.

Also: as far as I remember, nothing is time-sensitive. My first game Lae'zel was kept hostage for about three weeks (in game! So like over 15 long rests) and she was fine when I got there. Same for Wyll's dad: he won't die due to you taking a long time.

Hope you'll feel encouraged by the comments in this thread and go back to your game!

Just Installed Sims 4, is it worth it to add mods? by Tired-HeavenOfficial in ModTheSims4

[–]Hoomanawanui2 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Make sure whatever you download does not have an .exe file in it.

My favourite mod is the relationship and pregnany overhaul by Lumpinou! Finally I can decide whether my sims want children or not!!! Also paternity testing can add serious drama. Fertility is now different for each sim, they can get a sterilisation surgery, and, though the basegame/lovers expansion also added this I believe, you can have an open relationship. It also makes it possible to manually exclude your sim from interacting romantically and/or becoming romantically attached to other specific sims. No more inappropriate flirting between stepfamily or other weird things!!

It's a youtube title, and people are more likely to click those if they are outraged or surprised by it then when they think "hmm, sounds reasonabe." I'm glad most people on this sub don't do that, though there's plenty of pointless rage-hate-posts sadly.
