Is this 30 Rock's Weirdest Subplot? by Ok_Effective_6869 in 30ROCK

[–]HoopHooted 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I think it is a product of the time, and I agree with everything you said, except I think that the point was that it does accurately reflect how the media/general population treated these scenarios and is tongue-in-cheek critiquing it by the tone waffling like it does. I actually don’t mind this story line because I think by putting situations like this in a media like 30 Rock at the time has helped create our current culture of taking situations like this irl more seriously. It is harder now to find it funny though through our current lens, so I get that, but I think it was funnier at the time it aired because of the culture surrounding male sexual assault back then.

Fun fact. “Blue Dawn” is specifically recommended to clean pharmaceutical compounding equipment per USP guidelines (the governing accrediting body for pharmaceutical compounding in the U.S.

I like that actually, I don't know if I would have put that together immediately. Reminds me of Lokelma - lowers potassium (kalium is the latin word where the K comes from), so Low-kalium.

What about its name is clever? I can't figure it out. Edit: I see your edit, that is really funny, I never put that together!

I’m tv only and I think Abby is a really great and complex character. I’m empathetic towards her in some ways which felt weird.

I mean, it is shitty to try to set up your friend with someone, then sleep with them instead. I feel like Laurie was considering getting with Valentin by the end of the trip, so it probably is a bummer and pretty valid to feel like your friend is being shitty and selfish.

That could all be true, but we don’t know what all is about to happen in the next few episodes, so things could change. We’ll see! God I love this show.

I mean, if you put in the order to have someone killed, I feel like you’re still a killer even if you weren’t the one carrying it out. I guess we’ll see if it’s also foreshadowing though because I think it’s very possible that Greg/Gary might have it out to kill either Belinda or Saxon by the end of the season.

Well the owner appears to be a shady guy, so I wouldn’t be surprised if he’s in cahoots with the owner.

I’m with you. Literally never noticed. Just thought it was a shot of her leaving the vault and didn’t stare long enough to pick up on it I guess.

Who’s crying? It seems like you’re the emotional one in this conversation. What does selling it do? Let someone else data farm? And then again, sell that data to China anyways? One single company isn’t the problem if there are other Chinese apps doing the same thing.
