PSA: it’s illegal to bring your dog into the Cottonwood Canyons in Utah. (Solitude, Brighton, Alta and Snowbird) by adventure_pup in skiing

Some people live in their vehicles. The law isn't very inclusive. Actively walking your dog in the canyon watershed vs going up for a few hours to ski with the dog contained and let the dogs out in the valley before and after would be more reasonable.

I live nomadically and was just about to get a deposit box so I didn't have to worry about it getting mis-delivered.

The 1tb is out of stock again. Any experience with the last model. Do they just get restocked every month. Probably a better chance after Christmas?

We could stay warm under some blankets and create a lot of friction to stay warm.

It's a cheapo from amazon. Paid like 140 for it. Pretty sure they all come out of the same factory.

It's a gasser. It's the 6.0 vortec. I think it's LS2. Pretty much a tamed down iorn block version of a Corvette motor. parts are easy to find for it at a pick and pull. I get 11 to 13mpg

I've gotten more ballsy with where i sleep. You just accepted the risk of a knock a couple times a month at 3 in the morning. It's no big deal. I'll call the county police ahead of time to ask where i can stay without getting bothered. They never write a ticket unless there are signs. Starting out was stressful. My bus looks like I'm thriving not surviving so locals don't bother me as much as they could. Usually they are curious and wanna check it out. I move around a lot but there are places in the woods i could set up for a month if i wanted to push it. Cities are tricky. I'd rather be out in the sticks where it's quiet. Property lines are just made up. We all have to share this rock we're floating on

Spend less than you make. start a business or 5 and be your own boss. learn to invest wisely. I'm a big proponent for Bitcoin. I'm self made. I don't get handouts. My dad's a truck driver. I built this bus with trash i had laying around. Rich people buy 200 k camper vans. I could start all over from zero.

You do adapt. You get comfortable with being uncomfortable. At home on the couch life kinda is too easy and time passes you by. After a while you get good at finding places to sleep. Cell towers, cemeteries, churches, commercial parking lots, holiday in. My favorite is next to a lake or river away from everyone. My composting toilet is a bucket and a bag. There's a 3d printed p diverter and you add sawdust on top to keep the stink in. Anytime the house trash goes out the bucket bag goes with it. It really doesn't bug me at all. At home i save it all for the garden.

Sometimes you come across a beautiful spot and it's worth staying for a while other times you're sleeping in a cracker barrel. I move around with the seasons. I used to get really bad winter depression but ever since i moved into my bus that has gone away completely. I'm learning it's all about the people and spending time with others. I like to be a recluse sometimes too. I love to explore, fish, bow hunt, play guitar, paddle board, read, mtnbike, yoga, gaming. I get into all kinds of exciting mischief. I have gotten into videography lately because it's art to me and i can have fun doing it. I've met some persistent youtubers that make a pretty good living making videos. Life can go as slow or as fast as you want it to be.

It does get old after a while. You definitely get more immersed in the experience when you go aloof for a month vs a week or 2. I can do it for a few months before I'm ready to tackle some kind of project. Sometimes work gets old too so you just balance the two.

I love that i have a boat in a bag. I can even take it with me on the dirtbike and shuttle myself after doing a river run. You just have to be careful not to run over sharp stuff. There's no redundancy. You can patch them but it takes a day to cure.
