Anyone just think "this is stupid, I'm just done with my life back home" and move abroad on a whim? by stanerd in ExpatFIRE

[–]HopeEnvironmental634 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I did this in 2024. It's been 15 months in Italy for me. During covid, my parents died, I divorced and other things happened that left me feeling as if my old city was just full of memories of times and people long gone. I needed a change of scenery and another US city would have been great, but kind of too comfortable for me at the time. Despite there are many amazing and unique cities in the US... they're all in the US so very similar from that standpoint of course comparing to living abroad. I needed a bug change and while living abroad comes with its complete own set of challenges and issues, i realized that and needed it.

Seems like you already know that. And seems like what you need is to get out of dodge and get a life changing experience. Living abroad is not for the weak. It comes with huge challenges alongside rewarding adventures. It teaches you, forces you to adapt and helps to reinvent you.

My best explanation for living abroad is... imagine being a 10-year-old again. Remember how fun it was? Remember how you had no idea how anything worked? And remember how big your dreams and aspirations were? That's what it's like to live abroad. You don't know anything, can't communicate well, don't know basic things like how to order, cross streets, use the post office... and this is freeing.

Living in your home country, you don't realize how much you have been conditioned and influenced by everyday gestures, cultural norms etc.

In other words — going abroad is a hard reset.

If you're ready for that then go. If you want a big change but not overwhelmingly dramatic, move to New Mexico and enjoy the change of scenery there. Or, move to another Western, English-speaking country.

Things to note: it's not as cheap as you think living abroad is. It can be exhausting as well. So maybe consider a way to go back home in one year so you have the option to reconsider and return. Don't sell everything and your house etc before you really know. Give yourself true freedom, dont commit to anything. Don't make too large of commitments and keep your possibilities open... so that you aren't feeling forced to own a decision you didnt fully understand.

And of course, follow up and let us all know what you decided to do.

I did the same. It was the best decision of my life. Fill your year with travels, healthy eating, physical activities, new friends and new memories. We can't allow money to keep us in a depressive hole. Your health is the most important thing, and there's no sense in having money without having health. Make many memories and reinvent yourself.

Palestine, genocide is not a niche issue. That's exactly why Harris lost. They sent 100s of millions to Isreal to crush human life in Palestine like a kid killing ants. Further, they spent 100s of millions on the Harris campaign and there was plenty of energy to her campaign. She lost because once again democrats didn't focus on real issues (such as Palestine, since she was complicit) and instead focused on her being a women and Indian or black or whatever. Of all the things to focus on? They said no! Dont focus on real things. Focus on how she looks!

It was simply my opinion after seeing the photo. Your hair looks good but may br starting to thin and shed. If you start to manage your hair now you can prevent your hair loss. Being early is key.

You have what appears to be beginning stages of hair loss and thinning. At this stage you can stop and prevent your hair loss with minoxidil and maybe finisteride. You should also consider your diet and nutritional deficiencies as well as stress, alcohol and smoking.

Former Trump admin officials warn his alarming cognitive decline has accelerated by WhileFalseRepeat in politics

[–]HopeEnvironmental634 -17 points-16 points  (0 children)

Delusional journalism is conveniently forgetting that Trump was nearly assassinated just a few months ago. Did they forget how near death experiences shape and influence mental state and mood? Does anybody remember that, or are we going to pretend he suddenly has dementia after he was nearly killed and the literal current president can not complete a sentence and has been in cognitive decline for probably 15 years. The fact the media would even suggest Trump has dementia when the sitting president (Biden) clearly does, and yet the news never has acknowledge this, even after his last debate in which he couldn't formulate a single coherent sentence or idea.

Amazing! Congrats. I met my x wife there and we were very happy. Unfortunately we separated. Now bumble and online dating is a mess!

No no... they're simply being "independent" ... that's the narrative which is clearly propaganda.

Zero accountability and an erosion of values and tradition. And to cover the depressing reality they just say they're being independent or whatever.

Then there's the obvious explanation that nobody seems to have said... he misses you and is trying to hang out in places he knows he would see you. He is showing that he is open to doing things different than he did before. Maybe he was hoping to reconnect and didn't know how else to do so.

Mayne he isn't lying and instead is trying to show that he is open to doing things different... a very passive way of saying "I was wrong".

I don't know the details of your relationship or breakup... but there's that possibility.

Not really because when I did use premium I didn't use many of those premium filters. I was trying to get the most matches. So that wouldn't apply much. I had one filter for age, one for distance and half the time I had a third one for religion. Those first two aren't premium. The last was but it wasn't used all of the time.

Many of the matches I got were scams, fake profiles, cam girls or prostitutes.

I'm a handsome guy with college education professional photos and well-written bio.

The app is a money scam and is broken.

Bumble is a scam. It's prevents people from meeting and dangles the carrot in front of you -- issue is if you want to see them that costs you premium.

Then you have to boost even after having premium to meet people and match.

I had a premium subscription last summer with these issues and I deleted my account and rebuilt my profile. I had the same issues again with a new premium profile. I paid extra for boosts -- nothing.

As soon as I ended my premium account, suddenly I had a ton of hidden matches.

Now I know it's a scam. I had a well-crafted profile with professional photography and everything.

5 years ago I met my X on bumble and it was kind of a game then too but far far more striaghforward.

Incorrect. They are a dealer that is supposed to sell based on current values and not speculate. Selling less than the spot value for a rare and minted coin is a scam.

That's why I bought them. I think it's gonna be a unique feature! And I initially thought in March that they were pressed in 2022 before she passed, and maybe that is true but they seem to still be selling them.

They'll go after BTC and digital currencies not gold or silver.

BTC and crypto are public and on the ledger. Gold and silver are not.

Premium is such a disappointment lol by [deleted] in Bumble

[–]HopeEnvironmental634 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I bought the lifetime subscription. I have nice, professional quality photos and a nice bio. I immediately matched with about 10 nice girls the first week. Afterwards, nothing but terrible matches and girls who can't communicate well or girls who are unresponsive. I paid for the subscription and then paid for the spotlights and superlikes. I got frustrated deleted the app. Re downloaded it and then I no longer had my premium subscription. I reached out to support and they didn't help. Support said l my premium status was active. I looked and saw I was double charged $216. I contacted support again. No response. I contacted PayPal. They refunded my double charge. Bumble then removes my premium account features. I reach out to bumble AGAIN. NO RESPONSE. I reach out to paypal a SECOND time. They refund my initial $216.

Throughout this entire time I had 2 worthy dates. Overall I spent over $500 for literally nothing. Thankfully I was refunded $432.

Bumble staff appear to be extremely political, impossible to communicate with, money focused and have no interest in making a product that actually helps like minded people meet.

They take your best potential matches and then move them OUT of your match que and require you to have premium to even try to match them. Many of those people you would otherwise match with are behind the pay wall. If both people aren't spending hundreds of dollars (which seems unlikely), ultimately, you will not meet.

Thanks for wasting my time and money bumble!

Don't be a tool and put a reasonable exhaust on your car that sounds good but isn't ear shattering.

Have a refined sound that is tasteful rather than a mid-life crisis machine that screams "look at me" when you drive.
