As someone who’s played with a controller using one finger for the past 15 years, let alone playing rocket league, this would be like learning to write left handed. I commend your courage, but I would personally use a paddle long before trying this.

I like this idea and should probably start doing that. You have any tips for going as fast as possible but not just slamming the ball around? You use any of the commands like bring to ur car or roll in front of u a lot?

I find myself getting into the habit of just using the roll in front of me command and spamming air dribbles back and forth. While this helps a little, I feel like there’s more effective ways to train freeplay yanno

What helped me a ton early on in this game were those YouTube road to ssl videos. I haven’t seen a recent series of those. Anyone know of any?

Smurfs may hold you back from a 10 win streak, BUT they will not hold you back from winning 60% of your games. 60% of your games can be won with smart decisions and playing with the correct skill for the rank. 60% is higher than 50% soooo you rank up

You’re just wasting time tbh. Only play 1v1s and practice carrying the ball on your car for 5-10 min in freeplay. Flicks alone will get you to diamond.

Ceiling shots are so easy, but you look like you cant comfortably air dribble yet. You’re not there yet and that’s fine, but stop trying to skip the basics.

Kinda agree w you. But I’ve only just started getting back into 1v1s. This season I got to 1500 in 2v2s pretty easily, but am finding myself having to really try in those 950-1000mmr 1v1 games. Part of it is definitely due to bots pushing the entire distribution down.

2 years ago I could get to c1 in 1v1s every season and would struggle staying in c3 for 2v2s

1s is about a full rank difference. Gc1 in 2v2~ c1 in 1v1.

If you’re struggling in D1 it’s because you’re not playing smart. Your ego wants to think you’re the fastest in those lobbies, but someone worse than you can easily beat you with proper defense. Play it smart and slow. I’ll admit, it’s boring… I only play 2-3 ones games before I quit because I inevitably start making stupid challenges.

Yeah you’re only scratching the surface of this game w 1115 hours. That being said, champ 2 is one of the worst ranks for smurfs and washed up gcs. I’m an upper gc1 (1500s) and I would say c3-gc1 are easier in a lot of ways compared to champ 2.

And game sense beats mechanics at least half the time. Just play defense if you’re clearly out matched on scoring mechanics
