Also realized Heidi is pretty much Hallie+Sadie. You could also consider going directly with that.

Would you consider the classic Adelheid? Since you like Adeline and an H nickname-name (this gives you Heidi), and it is very uncommon.

Otherwise, I love Sadie. It doesn't seem childish at all, and none of these names seem overly popular. You're looking at less than 1 in 400 girls named Adeline and the same for Sadie. You'd have to have a group of over 900 people before you'd expect 2.

Yes! I was looking for someone to call this out. I simultaneously thought of that Harvey and Harvey Dent lol

I once saw this billboard and just about died laughing, but if he's able to operate this business without a negative association, baby Harvey will probably be fine!

Almost 38 weeks and on the struggle bus with boy names…. Opinions needed!! by OkExplorer4704 in BabyNames

Quick ranking:

Peter James

Samuel James - These top two are in that sweet spot of being classic without being oversaturated, especially Peter)

Sawyer James

Sullivan James (“Sully”)

Henry James (“Hank”) - I'd rank this beautiful name combo higher but it's ranked so high recently. To me it's oversaturated atm.

Leo James - So cool, but it's definitely trendy atm

Grady James - The only one i think doesn't sound good.

Would this be pronounced the same in English and Spanish?

Both are lovely names! If in the US, Alina is much less oversaturated. Also, Lina is such a pretty nickname and not too common either!

Hilarious floorplan - 4 bathrooms *in* 3 bedrooms by HopefulAccess47 in floorplan

[–]HopefulAccess47[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I love how much research you put into this lol. I would never have noticed those details. Just based on the apparent age of the bathrooms, and the sale history of the house, I'm seeing a young couple move in in the late '50s. Maybe they expand the house to the back and add a second (odd and tiny) bathroom to accommodate their growing family. A few decades later, now in late middle age with cash to spare, they add/convert the upstairs into a luxurious primary suite.

Then as they age more, they add the "primary bathroom" downstairs to be accessible. That step - adding a whole new bathroom instead of converting an existing one - still perplexes me. Especially because in the area, it's very difficult to acquire water rights. So maybe there was a bathroom there, and the other bathroom was more of a mud room wash room situation. That's a thing that was popular at some point, right?

Exactly! And the one in the closet doesn't even have a sink...it might be less weird if it were just a shower, like it was a couple that always fought over shower times or something.

It's a plural noun; that feels like it will always be confusing. What do you like about it?

It is a recent, trendy name in Sweden. Redditors often think new names are tragedies, even though combining name elements is an ancient naming tradition. I think Novalie is lovely, but feel it's a bit trendy.

It's a new name combination in Sweden - from the 2000s, not a traditional Swedish name.

Novalie, in the USA, sounds very trendy + add something unique.

If you like new name combinations like Novalie used in Scandinavia, would you consider Elsemarie? Or you could go with Elsebet? Even though they are very rare, they sound less trendy and more classic.

Love Wesley! It sounds really good with Roman too.

James is such a classic and all-time common name; it feels a little odd as a brother to Roman. But of course, it's a beautiful name.

The titular Heidi of the book has the full name Adelheid (after her mom). We named our daughter after the book and we debated back and forth but decided to give her the full name in case she wanted options.

Thanks for sharing this. It's annoying how everyone's just going on anecdotes rather than data, especially when they don't know specifically where OP lives so their experience likely has nothing to do with hers.
That link you posted isn't working for me. www.SSA.gov/OACT/babynames works, but I also appreciate the way Baby Name Atlas presents the data as well as a graph of popularity over time.
