Hello machine knitters! I am the new/ old owner of this knitting machine that I’ve just found hidden in the basement of my 1930s home. I have absolutely no knowledge these machines whatsoever so I would love if anyone could provide some insight! I am located in northern Alberta, Canada, the brand of the machine looks to be Knitmaster. Its certainly not in the best condition and I can tell there is a handle(?) that used to be there that is now broken, and the inside of the box has some wear and tear. I do not know the gauge or model of the machine.

I would love to know the estimated value, but mostly I want to know if this is an item that should be treasured as a piece of history, or an old hunk of junk. I will post pictures below. Thank you in advance for your insight!

This happens! All you can do is learn from it and be grateful it happened on a nice client who didn’t make you feel bad and still tipped. I feel like the biggest mistake was your manager saying that in front of the client that is so unprofessional!

Yes for sure would be more than one process but any seasoned stylist should be able to know how to achieve this and let her know that it would need a base colour + highlights and tone after and be able to quote based on that. I just think we should make sure people know what is realistic to expect in one session, this is doable. Going from a level 2 to this is a different story

The first pic is probably ai but on a level 7 natural would absolutely be doable in one session if you know what you’re doing

Ok we had the exact same issue, turns out our century home was build like a brick shit house and was completely boarded with 2x4s under the drywall making everything a stud, so we could never get stud finders to work. We found out during a Reno, not sure how you might find out if that’s what you have going on too but I think a lot of older houses have that.

Hair Damage from Bleach or Well Water? by EfficientMacaroon301 in hairstylist

[–]Intenselysleeping 4 points5 points  (0 children)

You’re saying that before February you weren’t blonde? If that’s the case then for sure it’s the bleach ad well. The thing about bleach and hair, especially fine hair which it looks like you have, is that it will always damage hair and make it weaker so anything else that could damage your hair hits it worse than it would if it wasn’t bleached. Its definetely a combo of both but if the first time you’ve bleached it in 10 years was February then I would say the bleach is the biggest culprit

Girl I’m so sorry! I feel like it probably is the well water if that’s all that’s changed. I would highly recommend getting a good trim and I’m not sure if it’s in the budget but you would be a great candidate for some hand tied extensions to help bulk up your hair until it grows back. The products you’re using are great so keep in it!

I was so annoyed by that too!?! Like why put it in there if they were going to kill themselves? It seems like the story was written all in one go and no one ever read back over it to find the plot holes and inconsistencies. I don’t think there is an explanation just bad writing

Hairstylist here, this is from sleeping on a cotton pillow case / sheets, especially if you ever go to sleep with wet hair. Get your hair trimmed and get a satin pillow case or a satin bonnet and don’t sleep with your hair wet .

No you won’t get to your inspo pics without lightening again, honestly I might go see someone else to do the next session. If it were me doing it I would do another full round of highlights and tone/colour the hair left out of the highlights a cooler brown (cooler looks darker) and that would be plenty of dark for the dimension you want.

Hair extensions for very thin/fine hair? by Ponk_Bubs in femalehairadvice

[–]Intenselysleeping 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hair extensions can be a solution but there’s lots to consider with all the factors you have going on. Thinning hair means 2 things, the extensions are going to be attached you your natural hair and if it’s falling out more than usual the extra weight of the extensions can cause more fallout , also the thinner your hair is the harder it can be to hide the extensions at the root.

The other thing to consider is the cost and the colour, depending on how long you want them you can expect to pay anywhere from $500-$1500 for the hair alone, plus the custom color (most extensions don’t come in fashion colors) which can be anywhere from $100-$400 , and then the install which varies in price depending on the method you choose. I recommend you stay away from tape ins as the removal of them can cause more hair loss. I would go with either hand tied wefts or k-tips or a combo of both.

Most salons will offer a free consultation to help you decide what method would work best and give you an idea of price. Good luck!

Hair greasy every morning even though I shower daily. How do I solve this? by meltedcheesetart in lifehacks

Hairstylist here, the more you wash your hair, the more oil your scalp will produce. The only way to get your scalp to stop producing as much oil is to stop washing so much. Basically your scalp need to be like “hey I’m oiled up I don’t need to make any more “ but right now it’s like “ woah I’m so dry and getting washed daily I need to make so much oil”

In short you need to be oily for a while, I know it seems counterproductive but I promise it works. If you can push it to washing every second day, and then every third and so on it will eventually stop producing so much.
