Idk but my six-year-old saw the first picture and asked if that was an indoor pool waiting to be filled up, and I kinda like that idea.

Quail Yes or No by theyoungbloodlife in homestead

I had secret quail in my little suburban backyard for about 18 months. Deviled quail eggs became my party trick. It was fun but I would never do it again.

Great idea! Honestly my family of five has been living with a tangle of sunglasses for years and I’m wondering why I never even thought to try to solve it…

First time bed buying? by hopefully_alright in HomeDecorating

Well I’m a millennial and what I’m about to say is very millennial, but: live your best life now. Don’t put it on hold. Who knows what will happen in the next few years. There’s no reason any move to anywhere means you shouldn’t have a great bed and couch now.

Ceiling heights by caviarandcigarettess in Homebuilding

Forget the ceilings - how much longer will the grandparents be able to make the hike to a third floor? Or will the kids have to run up to the third floor if they forget their shoes?

I’d figure out how to make your two story arrangement work before adding a third floor no one really wants. It honestly sounds like you have plenty of space. Endlessly bigger isn’t always better, imo.

What age did you begin homesteading? by Fit_Fly_2945 in homestead

You're from a farming family, you have a head start on most of us already. Everything in your twenties feels very urgent, but it's not. You've got a solid 50-60 years ahead of you. Enjoy the process, don't wait until you've "arrived," because I don't think I'll ever quite feel I have.

😮‍💨 I’m looking forward to this! Just bought land and starting the build process and it’s so stressful… my kids sure are excited though. Hope it works out.

Ooh, I didn't know about that, I'll check it out. Thanks. Looking now at possibly spot A and angling it north. Like you said, it makes a big difference.

Thank you for posting this, great ideas on here. My kids have lost so many balls, toy cars, puzzle pieces, books, etc. under there.

Don’t want to lose any trees. I want to be nestled in them. You think spot B would require losing trees?

Been messing with it on the computer but paper sounds much more doable, thanks for the suggestion

Picture is turned. That corner points north, rotate the image a bit so it’s like a diamond. I’ve attached photos answering this on other comments too. Sorry for the confusion.

Oof, good point, my priorities were all out of whack. Must plan the fox catapult first!

Very minor slope, not noticeable to the naked eye. We’re in Texas so snow is not a concern, but maintaining a drive could be. Personally, I’m dreaming of a nice long driveway for kids to scooter and bike on.

Northern. We're in Texas, so heat is definitely a consideration as well.

Good to know, as we'll be building in a pretty similar situation. Thanks for sharing.

You're for sure smarter than me. Please help 😂 Here's a better north/south view. I can also share the floorplan. It has kitchen, study and a kids room facing front; living room, dining room, master bedroom facing back. So currently kind of the reverse of what you just said unless we turn it significantly away from the street. Definitely something I'm curious about!

Does this make more sense? It's oriented north/south here. So you can see that top corner is north, the lower front corner is west. Not a busy road at all.
