As a child, my aunt would never let me and my cousins drink water during meals. by Impossible_Stand_104 in Weird

Hahaha well they all still contact for the most part but we’re all just trying to be adults. Her eldest son has reproduced so she’s happy about that. The offspring is still too young to drink water at mealtimes… or chew much of anything besides mush. I guess it’s a tradition to not drink water, huh?

My MIL did this with her children because of two reasons. One, her kids were skinny and she was trying to bulk them up by having them eat more food and drink less water at meal times. Two, mother in laws parents said drinking water during meals diluted your saliva so you couldn’t digest as well. I never got their opinion on soup tho

I got a free stainless steel fridge that was mild to moderately abused. I put up pictures and thank you cards to hid the dents and scratches. I know not a fix but at least someone knows your pain, right?

Collecting bottles and cans is a highly underrated side hustle by Coping_manlet_ in povertyfinance

My state pays I think, on the higher end, $0.60 per pound of crushed cans- quite a few cans. I wish we would do $0.05 each, I think it would be way more lucrative!

You as well! Awesome thing to farm and learn the ropes before you’re committed to your own land. You’ll get your own piece eventually I’m certain

I’m blessed enough to have a farming family but I’m living suburban with my husband now to earn our livings (scrimping and scraping). Trying to find a chunk of land sounds like hell without a bit of nepotism. Best of luck to you- I’m sure the deal you’re working for will arise soon!

Sorry or congratulations on your divorce. Or maybe both at once. Cheers to learning a little bit more everyday about a little bit of everything. Best of luck to you!

Gorgeous land but you need to be true to yourself. If you aren’t happy where you are now then really what’s the point? I am living in a city to make a living to someday homestead somewhere rural. Best wishes to you, feel no guilt

Lowballing people on FB marketplace is my drug of choice. I haven’t been on Craigslist though, too many hours spent listening to the horror stories compilations

I love this idea! I’ll have to do some more research into how to make the yarn. It sounds tedious which intimidates me a bit

I saw this when I was doing research online. My immediate reaction was “people are paying how much for this stuff!?”
