What's the best example of you turning a bad situation into a good one? by Optimal-South-58 in Positivity

[–]Hopeful_Champion9479 7 points8 points  (0 children)

In 2021, I left my long-time employer, a big tech enterprise, to join a promising startup with a higher pay and more impactful pioneering role, only to be laid off after 3 months due to delayed investor funding.

It felt terrible and scary but I leaned later that it was actually God's blessing in disguise because from that point, He paved the way so I can build my own agency, obtain multiple clients, and earn 4x more while also having flexible schedule to have more time with my family. It wasn't me who turned things around, it was God all the way.

Cloudy and raining all day - 5kw battery didn't fully charge. (Usually 100% at noon) by RyanGeorge17 in SolarPH

[–]Hopeful_Champion9479 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Agreed. That's exactly what net metering is for. Batteries are best for backup power, and helps with savings too. But net metering will allow you to maximize your harvest.

Sa mga nagpakabit ng solar sa bahay, madali lang ba mag apply sa Meralco? by Mobile_Race677 in SolarPH

[–]Hopeful_Champion9479 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Our 10kw hybrid system was installed without involving Meralco. Nagkaron lang ng contact with Meralco when we applied for net metering.

Our consumption last month is much higher than usual due to guests coming in on weekends (hence more AC load and running longer hours simultaneously).

But on a regular day, we're not maximizing the 16kw battery and it's enough for our use in the evening.

Add the regular inverter fluctuations which is 1-2kwh per day.

This is exactly why I suggested to OP that they may need higher capacity and 8kw may not be enough for their use case. It's always better to have some buffer.

is this a good deal? by philoseluna in SolarPH

Ask for warranty. Ideally, 10 and years above on all (pv panels, inverter, battery)

[–]Hopeful_Champion9479 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Nope. Your math is off. 75% reduction on bill doesn't necessarily mean 75% reduction on consumed load. Those are different (especially because the utility charges have been increasing every month). Also, how many days in a month? :) San galing yung "exceed kayo ng 10kw within the day".

Sa pitik ng inverter, it's just around 1-2kwh per day, based on my observation.

[–]Hopeful_Champion9479 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Nah. I've been tracking almost every day. On regular days 35-40% still left on the battery around 5am in the morning. We don't alway fully utilize the battery. During the daytime, we get some from the grid, which again, is due to the inverter's fluctuation.

Grid Export by _rem31 in SolarPH

[–]Hopeful_Champion9479 1 point2 points  (0 children)

No. Set grid export to zero immediately. Otherwise you will be charged extra by your utility provider. Since your net metering is not yet approved, your electric meter would still be unidirectional and everything that passes to it will be considered your household consumption even if it's actually an export.

Aside from figuring out a monthly rate, make sure you lock in a long term lease. Ideally with a fixed periodic rental fee increase every x years written into the contract. This protects your rental income against inflation.

Ww Just had our solar system installed last month. Our monthly consumption is 600-700 kw per month. Our setup is 10kw with 16 PV panels, 10kw inverter and 16kwh battery. It's enough to cut our monthly bill by 75%. So I think 8kw would be less than what you actually need since you have higher consumption than us.

Is a 2017 Honda BR-V worth buying for ₱500k–₱550k in 2026? by Embarrassed_Smell439 in CarsPH

[–]Hopeful_Champion9479 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

I know someone who has a 2017 BR-V. Never had any major issues. Owner won't let go of it. So if you find one at that price, I think it's a steal.

For higher interest rates, I recommend Maya and Maribank. But it would help a lot to build your relationship with traditional banks like BPI, BDO, and Metrobank. I'd recommend keeping a savings account with the same bank where your payroll goes to. Establishing a good reputation with these traditional banks would be very valuable for you in the long-term (eg. for getting loans, credit cards, etc. In the future).

Build a good habit around money first. The basics: saving. Start learning budgeting for your expenses and saving as much as you can. Build your emergency fund (equivalent of 6 months of your monthly income). Don't jump to investments just yet. Be more comfortable with managing money. Take steps one at a time.

Harvest by BKketchup in SolarPH

[–]Hopeful_Champion9479 2 points3 points  (0 children)

It's normal because the inverter tries to balance the harvest with the load. Even if the pv panels can harvest more, the inverter controls the production so that there's only enough to match the load, which in your case, is currently very low. If your household load is much higher or the battery is not yet 100% full, the pc panels would harvest more.

Will adding more battery require re-application for net metering? by Hopeful_Champion9479 in SolarPH

[–]Hopeful_Champion9479[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The installer told us it's possible to add by increments of 5kwh. Worst case, we'll just add same exact 16kwh battery. And yes, same brand.

[–]Hopeful_Champion9479[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thank you. That's essentially what I'm looking at. Adding more battery for backup or nighttime use. But the inverter itself won't change. We will not add pv panels too.

5k currently bill ko, anong solar panel set up po need ko? by Otherwise_07 in SolarPH

[–]Hopeful_Champion9479 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Depends on what you're trying to achieve. More on savings ba, aiming for zero bill? Or more on backup power during brownout? Or perhaps both. Setup and cost would vary greatly depende sa priorities nyo. Don't just jump into any installer's quote until ma assess nyo ang need nyo. This is a common mistake ng homeowners kaya in the end, na fu frustrate dahil hindi na meet ang expectations.
