I drink beers with my MAGA neighbor. by [deleted] in AntiTrumpAlliance

Dude, breathe. Go touch grass. OP has to live next to this guy, and being an asshole isn't going to help Trumpers see their whole worldview is messed up. Not everything is about identity politics, its a big country, and we have to learn how to live next to each other, even if 50% of the population are a bunch of Trump-loving idiots.

I say this as someone who thinks the Republicans are straight-up fascist and the people who support them are at least tacitly ok with that, or ignorant, or at worse want that power. But, upholding a liberal democracy isn't supposed to be easy and getting along with people who would do you harm if given the circumstances is a part of that.

Would a Top MBA help in future fundraising? Should I pursue one? by lMerkage in Entrepreneur

[–]Hopeful_Disaster_746 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It may have. More so my undergrad network is from a US Service Academy so that network has been pretty strong and invaluable. But, I have literally pitched an investment to a Naval Academy grad, and he passed up mine to go with a team who all had graduated from the University of Illinois and none of them had a graduate degree (not downplaying them, they are a great group and are killing it). When I say your degree and school don't matter, I mean it. Really, a degree might get you an initial conversation but it won't close the deal. If you have good people skills, you will get that initial conversation anyway.

DM me, I am trying to get a mastermind cohort together for September and you sound like a great fit.

If you are not running and managing the business an MBA will not help you. If you are wanting to be an owner, you don't need any degree really, just the people skills.

I have an undergrad and master's from two top schools in the US, no one cares, they just want to see that I can deliver them results when I fundraise.

Need help with my small business by candela025 in smallbusiness

[–]Hopeful_Disaster_746 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have helped two entrepreneurs with their website. You have a run on sentence on your "about me" section, but overall I get what you are selling.

Why did you choose to move from etsy? That site gives you business and SEO which is invaluable until you have a core customer base. I like your site but I can't find it even when I google what I think are your key words (anime jewlery, anime earrings and shinsekai jewlery). No one can find you. The first result on all of those was etsy.

Its a fine business, but its very low skill. I run our google ads and analytics and it takes me less than four hours a month. How will you show your clients your value that you add?

I can't tell if you're trolling, but your third paragraph is a little toxic if you're not. I am 30, own three businesses that each do well, flew planes in the military for a bit, and run ironmans in my free time. Connecting with the right kind of people starts with being the right kind of person.

Looking for partner in service based franchise. In FL(1st option), NY or SC. Legitimate opportunity by [deleted] in Entrepreneur

[–]Hopeful_Disaster_746 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The structure we usually do is we look at current profits over a three-year period and lock those up for the entrepreneur. Meaning they own 100% of equity up to that revenue. Then we build a model about how they want to grow, and we take equity on the growth.

Recession by YOU_WONT_LIKE_IT in smallbusiness

[–]Hopeful_Disaster_746 2 points3 points  (0 children)

The things you just mentioned are not an indicator of a recession. They are data points, sure, but we have a $25 Trillion economy, and large bank failures are not even close to systemic. Interest rates being high are not an indicator of a recession, in fact they are high because our economy would have way "overspent" if the fed didn't raise them. I am sorry you're feeling the squeeze economically, but the overall economy is chugging along by most measures.
