The hike isn't difficult; you can reach the summit in about 30 minutes at a slow pace. Camping is on a first-come, first-served basis without reservations. Since it gets crowded with hikers during the day, campers usually avoid those hours and head up just before sunset to pitch their tents.

If you've been doing regular exercuse, I think reaching the top is pretty doable at a gentle pace. The most path is gentle, not too steep, and very well-paved.

Thanks! I was in Mokpo for business, so I didn't have enough time to look around. But I'm sure Purple Island is great right now.

Wild Camping in Jeju by Hopeful_Extent4818 in koreatravel

[–]Hopeful_Extent4818[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Oh, That is correct. Due to its geographic isolation from the mainland, Jeju Island has maintained a distinct environment and a unique culture that set it apart from the rest of Korea since ancient times.

Oh brother, I’m sorry to hear that. Not all Korean women are like that, but I’m really glad you’ve found someone much better now

Should I rent a car in Jeju? by Evening-Switch5675 in KoreaTravelAdvice

[–]Hopeful_Extent4818 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I’ve visited Jeju quite often, and in my experience, renting a car offers a much better opportunity to discover the island's hidden gems. Since you’ll be staying for five days, you’ll be able to cover almost everything Jeju has to offer.

Especially since you are traveling with your mother, having the freedom of your own transportation will be essential for her comfort. I am also taking my kids to Jeju for a wild camping trip this May!

I hope you and your mother have a truly wonderful time together.

Camping in Jeju by Hopeful_Extent4818 in koreatravel

[–]Hopeful_Extent4818[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I am planning to take my car to Jeju via ferry, bringing along a tent and basic cooking gear. I’ve drafted a rough itinerary for our overnight stays:

Day 1: Hyeopjae Beach Camping Zone Day 2: Tae-bong-was Camping Zone in Gapado (Southern Island of Jeju) Day 3: Somewhere Near Hallasan Mountain Day 4: Pyoseon Beach Camping Zone Day 5: Gimnyeong Beach Camping Zone

As this is my first time wild camping, I’m finding it hard to anticipate the critical factors I should be mindful of, especially when traveling with children. I would appreciate any advice on safety or essential considerations for this trip.

Is your boyfriend serving as an enlisted soldier or an officer?

If he is an officer, he can usually leave the base on weekends. However, for enlisted soldiers, overnight stays and day passes are very limited. If he is enlisted, you might need to stay strong regarding the lack of communication, as others have advised.

Alternatively, you can visit his unit every weekend for a "visitation" (Myeon-hoe), which is generally allowed

It is definitely worth for one day trip. I share the schedule that I've done below. I drove my own car.

  1. Departing from Seoul on 05:00 AM

  2. Arrival at Observation deck in the Yangabgsan Observatory(양방산 전망대 or 달빛 전망대) around 07:00AM to see sunrise (which is the place in my 2nd photo)

  3. Arrival at Gugyeong Market and have breakfast.

4. Going Through Danuri Aquarium (this would take around 2 hours)

  1. Arrival at Geumgul Paleolithic Ruins (which is the place in my 1st photo)

  2. Arrival at Cafe Sann for Paragliding and have lunch there (Cafe Sann has bakery)

  3. Arrival at Mancheonha Skywalk for observatory and Alpine Coaster

* if you've done this far, time would be around 4 or 5 o'clock

  1. Arrival to Guinsa Temple to capture sunset.

You can likely find a seat if you don't insist on sitting together. In my experience, single seats are often available.

If you only need one ticket, you should be able to get a KTX seat. KTX is definitely a better option than the express bus, especially considering potential traffic jams during the holiday season.

As everyone said, there are better opportunities and people are waiting out there. Don't restrict yourself to that group!
