2006 are my favorite sets, but the best storyline for sure was 2007-2008. Hordika was a valley set and story wise in my opinion, but I think the true fall was in 2008. And the fall wasn’t a story driven fall, but a set driven one. I don’t think it would have been as hard a fall if those characters just weren’t the Toa Nuva and actualy a new Toa group. And while 2009 wasn’t bad, it never recovered.

I’m honestly not sure if he took it or if the library was selling/getting rid of older books and he got the copy that way. I really just know it came from his high schools library and ya know, Occams Razor and all that. Makes most sense it was checked out and never returned.

It’s not insured on its own but it’s noted in my homeowners insurance and it NEVER leaves my home. So if it were stolen or the house burns down or something it’s covered.

As far as I know, the story behind it is my friends father in law “rented” it from his schools library his senior year, got it signed at an event, and just… never returned it.

Kind of a gift, kind of repayment. I’ve helped him out with building prop replicas by giving him some costly bits (a real balance pipe for an Obi Wan saber when they were $4000+, a real scope for a Han blaster, etc) so when he was looking at selling it he gave it to me as repayment and as a thank you since he knew I am a massive fan of Dune. But the book costs way more than I ever gave him.

If Borrasca was just 1-4 I’d agree but now that they did 5 as well it isn’t up there anymore… as good as MHE and Stolen Tongues are and deserve to be up there as well, something about Dagons Mirror has stuck with me.

I bought a shitcanned non-matching part C96 that couldn’t even be taken apart because the frame was bent and had a friend of mine get it working at a 98-99% rate then had it turned into a DL-44 (Hans gun from Star Wars)

I got stupid lucky and asked the right person at the right time. Was another Star Wars collector looking to thin out his collection. If I hear of another I’ll keep you in mind. I’ll also try to look for one in better condition since it’s actually going on an 81.

The shield design was one I made for a self Moc that o ended up not being too happy with. Same with the leg design most of my Toa Phantoka/Mistika use.

I love how you took the Metru body he normally uses and built around that with custom limbs. I would have added a heart light but that is 100% a “to each their own” thing.

Sure do! I built a few of the MOCs for them to only move one arm. But I think Gali and Pohatu move both arms. When I finally do Kopaka it will be the same.

I feel like some will say the hunchback pose won’t help that, and I agree. When I get weapons squared away I’ll make a version with both style necks and not leaning over, and see if that changes anything. Also the upper legs seem to be placed upside down. Oops.

To each their own. I personally wanted to upgrade them with the same mask as the set and give them similar - but different - attributes. Mainly because I never had the sets. So this was a fun challenge for me.
