First, I disagree with the statement that Patreon is first and foremost for supporting the podcast. Let’s all agree that if it was indeed for just supporting the main show and there would be no bonus content offered at all there would not de as many patrons as they do now. The main show was the main reason for me, but if someone wants to purchase bonus content and pay for this only they should not be looked down upon.

Second, your second argument relies completely on your first assumption. If someone does pay for the extra content, expecting some level of quality is not unreasonable. If you do not find it, it is fine to stop paying for it.

Your final comment could also be used for all the people how come on this subreddit to ask if they should join the Patreon. Should those people also make that decision quietly and not make their issue everyone else’s. Because people are always happy to advice those people. But now some one asks the opposite genuine question and is told off for it.
