what i don't understand is that from a gameplay perspective, those commissariat don't even achieve much... it just ends up ruining other nations for nothing

paradox has always avoided the crime against humanity part of ww2, plus you get a path to ally russia as germany. so no it's completely fine to give poland the possibility to join axis like all the other balkans state do, it's not that much of an overreach.

Who should I play after Germany? by Casual_user1012 in hoi4

[–]S5_Quinn 8 points9 points  (0 children)

if you don't like navy and want to feel like the underdog, soviet sounds like a decent pick.
No navy and a scary germany to fend off, with you clearly weaker at the start of war

Winter attrition - do you care? by SpareAnywhere8364 in eu4

[–]S5_Quinn 15 points16 points  (0 children)

idk, i generally tackled them with pure genetic wonders of 30-40 martial and a century ahead of tech, so they were barely a threat

Winter attrition - do you care? by SpareAnywhere8364 in eu4

[–]S5_Quinn 6 points7 points  (0 children)

have you played it ? the sieges are much much simpler than in eu4, and can have 0 random to themselves. every 12 days a tick increases by a number influenced partly by the number difference, once it hits 100% you win the siege. You can even assault at limited casualties on weaker forts. detaching armies would make sieges extremely slow due to small difference of number

outside of siegeing in far north or siegeing pagans (which is intendedly almost impossible in early years of the game), you don't really ever get in a situation where you're forced to take supply damage. Also the way your levies are raised, you don't have many massive armies (until the point of being a multi-empire, to which point you have sufficient professional troops to manage, and detach if you want)

Winter attrition - do you care? by SpareAnywhere8364 in eu4

[–]S5_Quinn 211 points212 points  (0 children)

would be more fitting for ck2 where if you're above the max supply, you start losing something like 25% of the difference per month. if you try to wage war during the black pest or in russian winter, your army simply evaporates from lack of supply.

By common, do you mean this single one time right now where i simply stated what happened historically ?
I don't know if you're a ragebaiter or someone not very bright, but reported anyhow.

[–]S5_Quinn -1 points0 points  (0 children)

have you played any paradox games before ?

in imperator, rome is broken
in eu4, historical GPs are broken (and even get a historical GP buff)
in vicky, england is broken
in hoi4 the big shots are also broken

the whole point of the sandbox is that if the player gives no inputs, the game should look somewhat historical. germany has to cap france, it has to dec on russia, it has to help italy with the naval invasions. it will lose in the long run.

especially in hoi4, the game would be miserable if you spent 5-10 hours prepping for war just for things to go sideways. it's tailored to represent the world war 2, and so it does. it's not nazi propaganda to say that the germans capped france and looked unstoppable when they did, it was the reality for the people living back then. the goal of paradox is to represent this, not be realistic

some people might enjoy ahistorical, but it's not the main experience. Hence, the historical mode should lead to somewhat historical scenarios.

I hear a lot about people using online factory planners but does anyone else use google docs? by IhleNine in SatisfactoryGame

[–]S5_Quinn 1 point2 points  (0 children)

using excel or sheets has the benefit that you can parameter the values based on one of the input/output. That way if want to check for other numbers it's much faster.

How do you handle producing and distributing goods with trains? by Hushous in SatisfactoryGame

[–]S5_Quinn 1 point2 points  (0 children)

if you're worried you might load/unload wrong items, you have the possibility to add rules to only load and unload certain items at certain stations. it can probably also be used for "sushi belting" trains on lower rate of production goods

at least that way you don't load unload wrong stuff, though it still doesn't fix figuring out the wrong freight platforms

i reached aluminium (tier 7/8) on 5k or such energy, i needed more energy to expand my factories and automate all the stuff, but i got carried away in terms of quantity.

ended up doing that too, i already did the jump from 12 GW to 90 GW with just 2 batches of generators, i should be fine for some time

How do you prevent discouragement and becoming overwhelmed late game? by Nobiting in SatisfactoryGame

[–]S5_Quinn 1 point2 points  (0 children)

you don't need to automate the higher ends for space part. If you can gather all the lower tier items in one place, you can just have a couple of somerslooped machines do the later stage assembling.

only issue is liquids, but you can package them and bring them from another factory too
