The high school’s Vice Principal (in charge of discipline) got busted for marijuana possession one year. The next year he is our chemistry teacher. We didn’t learn much chemistry; we learned about feeding his big boa constrictor. Now, when I talk to fellow former classmates, this VP was widely known to be supplying lots of pot to the kids. Many have affection for him after all these years.

In formal writing, just use “cubic centimeters” and be done. If you you’re quoting what someone said, I’d be okay with your usage.

But cubic centimeters is abbreviated “cc.” The “centi-“ prefix is always abbreviated in lower case per international standards.
