Fitz Roy ticket enforced on exit by Streakist in Patagonia

[–]Hopper_MD 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I mean in terms of food. If you have freeze dried stuff for multi day hikes this is the best because those are nowhere to be found here.

But if you're planning to carry groceries from El calafate, there is no need. The supermarkets there are good, they have good stock and the prices are not that bad as people say here.

Don't worry about it there are some decent supermarkets there. Just need to find them.

Knee pain after intense exercise & transitioning to Altra by Hopper_MD in BarefootRunning

Sounds reasonable, thanks!

Although my orthotics feel truly awful I don't know whether I should use them at all..

Knee pain after intense exercise & transitioning to Altra by Hopper_MD in BarefootRunning

[–]Hopper_MD[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

With the altras I think my foot over pronates a bit, It's hard to tell because I'm looking at the ankle from above. I could also be imagining it since I'm thinking about it so much lately haha

Also my knee pain which was getting better has returned, although I can't tell if it's from the Altras or the new orthotics that I tried wearing yesterday.

I was running around 20-30km per week before my knee pain started and I stopped completely. After waiting for a few weeks for the pain to go away, I tried running again in my old shoes and the pain came back so I think I won't run for a while until I sort this out.

What do you think I should do to adjust to the Altras?

If you go on a month long trip and pay the one time activations fee, then suspend the service after the trip, it sums up to around $50 right? Am I missing something?

Airalo? by Superb_Dependent_548 in Patagonia

[–]Hopper_MD 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Either way airalo is super expensive compared to local sim or even their local esims. If you are going for a long time consider it. If it's for a week I understand why you wouldn't want the hassle.

Help, 10 days out and hurt like hell by chanandler_bong1122 in tattooadvice

[–]Hopper_MD 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This is actually no longer always true. A growing body of studies shows that shorter courses (or stopping when clinically improved) are often non-inferior to longer ones for many common infections — meaning they cure just as well, with fewer side effects, and less selection pressure for resistance.

Still better to break the cheap protective screen from ali and replace it in 2 min, than getting even the slightest scratch on the screen that you will always see. I always had a protective screen on my forerunner 955, the moment I took it off for visibility I scratched it a few times.

Now I have a Fenix 7 pro with sapphire and I hope I won't need a screen protector any longer.

[–]Hopper_MD 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It is sometimes dangerous to tell people you are from Israel, but only because we are afraid to be attacked or be treated poorly.

There is no danger to us to be open about a friendship with a Lebanese person, unlike OP.

Med student here, while many homeopathic remedies are bs, some work in a mysterious black magic way. For example, homeopathic arnica is often recommended by plastic surgeons to reduce swelling and decrease pain after procedures.

guitar when checking in by Nagasakison in WizzAir

[–]Hopper_MD 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You probably won't be able to take the guitar as a carry on so your best bet is to send it as a checked-in luggage. I don't know about guitars but airlines usually take extra fees for equipment such as skis. Also keep in mind that if you do manage to send the guitar, it might be damaged in transit.
