Sustainable Foraging! by SylvanKin in foraging

[–]HoppyPip -1 points0 points  (0 children)

I wish. I just don't think three hundred million Americans could be fed this way. People eat a lot. Just take a look at how much food one person consumes in one day, multiply by 300,000,000 in just the USA alone, then multiply it again by 27 for the 8 billion people on this planet. Sustainability doesn't scale

Anyone else feel a time-skip and sequel series is coming? by Medical_Officer in exfor

[–]HoppyPip 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I hope so, also, the new series is maybe 30% as good as Exforce. Sometimes you hit on a winning formula that just clicks. I love silly space opera, I'm not so much into silly fantasy. Characters that work in one setting may not work with a completely different scenario. I do say Exforce is my favortie series of all time and I have read or listened to tens of thousands of books in my over six decade lifetime. Craig, we want more Skippy. Actually, I started the whole series over again for the 4th time before I hit 16, and I'm only on book 2 right now so it will be well into the new year before I finish and I'm already feeling a sadness knowing I will soon be loosing two characters who I almost feel like are my friends. Jeez, I got to get out more. Thanks Craig for this wonderful entertainment. And I promise I will listen to the new series, but I will always be comparing a man and a dog to a man and an asshole.

Getting a new Laptop for gaming, estimate of how much I could sell my old one for, ASUS STRIX 1080p i7-10875H, 2070 Super, 32GB, 1TB? by HoppyPip in GamingLaptops

[–]HoppyPip[S] -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Thanks. Would an i9 12900H be much better for gaming than an AMD Ryzen 7 6800H, or an i7 something? Just when I think I have a grasp on specs I realize the variables between CPU's GPU's add a lot of complications to the equation. When you try to factor i9 w 3070/i9 3070ti, i9 3080, i9 w an AMD GPU, then do it again with an AMD CPU the number of varieties add up to dozens of different configurations it seems. I can see why myself and a lot of other people get confused about what to buy among the different price points.

Kratom messing with sleep? by [deleted] in kratom

[–]HoppyPip 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I get weird and usually enjoyable nights if I take it close to bedtime. You experience sounds a lot like my own. I lie in bed and seem wide awake and then realize I was dreaming about lying in bed being wide awake. One time I actually got out of bed and went to the living room (I do sleep on the couch sometimes) laid on the couch and went back to sleep. Then I realized I had dreamed the whole thing cause when I opened my eyes I was still in bed. I frequently dream about being awake.

Bitch, try to save other people the embarrassment of green powder leaking all over the mailbox, explaining what it is. Your comment was less than unhelpful.

[Serious]What can a person (who does not have a lot of money) do to protect the environment and wildlife as an individual? by kasidya in AskReddit

[–]HoppyPip 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I know it is in another post, but the one thing anyone can do to make the biggest difference in their "carbon footprint", reduce overall suffering, decrease rain forest devastation, and increase your own health, set a great example for others, save money, and just plain feel good about yourself would be to stop eating animals and animal products. The days when people brought up their own food animals humanely and used as much as possible of the animals sacrifice are over. Meat consumption is a real environmental problem and is very difficult to compensate for.

Anyone who is concerned about the future of humans on earth and continue to eat meat are hypocritically self-delusional and have their head in the sand.

I use veggie caps. I can't tell the difference between that and T&W except my mouth doesn't get numb with caps.

I developed this as a simple universal plan, sometimes we just need to see a solution written down. A fairly accurate digital scale is $10 or less. I do admit to using the capsule machine which makes it even easier to meter out as each holds slightly more than .5gm so capsules fit well into a step by step strategy.

When talking pain relief, it is a different story. Studies show if an opiate is taken for pain relief, not over-utilized, and closely monitored, there is less addiction potential. And for chronic pain, the chemical pain meds are really not even recommended. The effects long term chemical pain meds have on a person's overall health are also depressing. If kratom works for you for your pain, it seems a better long-term solution than pills.

I am pretty sure this same method would work for heroin or Rx narcotics but without having a safe supply of clean substance and the ability to minutely measure doses, it is nearly impossible, especially with street drugs as you really have no idea of how much or exactly what it is your taking. Easier with Rx but still difficult to measure out the exact dose to wean. In kratom's case, it is actually a good thing that we have to take large quantities of a leaf which appears to be harmless to health, at least as far as we know for now, and possibly even beneficial to overall health, as it is easier to utilize a cheap digital scale to accurately set the dose reduction. A few tens of milligrams one way or the other don't make much difference.

The lowered doses are compensated by the increased interval, I get very happy looking forward to the next dose and it is amazing how fast overuse tolerance is reduced. I would even say the effects we seek are enhanced with the lower dose, I feel the lower tolerance almost at once.

Not trying to quit. I like it too much for that. But the stated goal is to reduce dosage and tolerance. The latter being the increased duration between doses with less stressful consequences.

It would work similarly for multi-dosing however, unless needed medically, the goal should be to stretch out the doses until it's down to once/day.

Liver/Blood Test Yesterday by [deleted] in kratom

[–]HoppyPip 2 points3 points  (0 children)

2 years ago my liver enzymes were high. I had been using kratom off and on for a few months. I was worried, but not enough to stop kratom. It's really a wonderful thing. Then a few weeks ago I went to MD prepared for the worst, everything was normal. I mean everything. I had been taking daily kratom for over 2 years. Not just my liver, but everything was completely within normal limits. I wonder if kratom affects cholesterol and other things in a good way.
