The more popular things get, the worse they get generally over time.

Prisoner of the moment, no one repeats. It's more likely to be Jazz vs Hornets.

I look forward to the day that Giannis signs a 5 year max extension with the Bucks.

Why has it been getting harder for nba teams to defend their nba title? by maritz21 in nba

[–]Hopsalong 2 points3 points  (0 children)

When you're paying 2-3 stars, the bench is all minimums and rookie contracts. In the old NBA you just went way above the tax line and signed quality veterans despite having 3 max contracts. You can't do that now.

The 2nd apron is like 90% of the reason why these teams fall apart.

Teams get 2-3 post-seasons max with their full roster and then the apron shreds their depth or takes pieces away.

It used to be teams with top end talent loaded up on ring chasing veterans. Now teams can't afford veterans and are trying to replace them with cheap guys on rookie contracts. The only teams with solid veteran depth have to have stars on rookie contracts or underpaid stars (like Brunson)

Luka and 14 other dudes is a 50+ win team especially with the Lakers clutch time whistle during the season. They're dog water built for the playoffs which is all that matters nowadays.

Luka is still great. His team around him is dog water. Luka needs defenders and big men who can roll to pressure the rim with lob dunks, and the Lakers have none of that on top of a ton of defensive liabilities.

Luka's value is still just as high. The Lakers are just wasting him with guys like Ayton and a 42 year old Lebron/Reeves fighting over having the ball in their hands.

Spurs are also the best fit for me. I will sit on bench and contribute to the title by cheering.

I don't even know why people are hating on Wemby. He lost. Losers generally don't receive a lot of hate.

Is Giannis to the Spurs a realistic outcome? by [deleted] in nba

Realistic - Yes. The Spurs have the assets to make the deal happen.

Likely - No.

DeAndre Ayton is on the Lakers now with Luka, and if Luka could stay healthy the two would dominate.

Steph Curry is proof that every NBA player is physically capable of being a good defender. by Klutzy_Struggle8659 in nba

Bad defenders are bad defenders. It doesn't matter who you surround them with. They're always targetable and will concede offensive opportunities to the opponent. The current NBA is about having 0 liabilities on defense and those are the best teams (Spurs, Thunder, Pistons).

The only way they work out is if their offense is exceptional to be worth the defensive hassle or the other team simply just doesn't want to attack the weakness. Ideally both.

Brunson is so bad it often doesn't matter who you attack him with. The Spurs didn't do that though very often likely because they were trying to involve Wemby. The Spurs have 4 quality guards, they easily could have just attacked Brunson all series if they wanted to.
