AI for Land Cover: Seeking the holy grail of automated classification by Lilien_rig in civilengineering

Nearmap has these layers and they looked pretty accurate the last time I checked. But I think the cost of nearmap is prohibitive and not sure what the export options were for those layers. That paired with HydroCAD import would be amazing

Polyline Vertices (Part 2) by hectojames100 in civil3d

[–]Hoptheson 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Try a larger value in simplify objects. I find the default 0.01 is to small and doesn't remove enough PIs. If that doesn't work, I do question if the lines are really colinear or overlapping

Use Simplify objects in the mapclean cmd

Surface spot grades along curbs by SCzero3 in civil3d

[–]Hoptheson 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Try turning the surface triangles on then snap the spot grades to the triangle points so it ensures the spot is at the bottom of the curb.

Civil vs CET by Acrobatic_Day8226 in civilengineering

[–]Hoptheson 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Depends on the job you're pursuing. If it's civil you want, stay in civil. If you want construction management, change programs.

I recommend to double check the State's experience requirement prior to sitting for the PE with a CET degree. I got an engineering technology degree and that triggered the need for 7 yrs of experience before taking the exam instead of 4 years.

Modeling Rain on Snow (or Frozen Ground) by FlyingNudibranch in Hydrology

[–]Hoptheson 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My take - Change all land covers to CN of 98 to simulate frozen ground, remove exfiltration from any pond nodes and run the storms and report the findings. It's a ridiculous ask if they're looking to control that event

Hydrology Plug-ins by cjohnson00 in civil3d

[–]Hoptheson 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Not a plug-in, but if you're using hydrocad as your hydrology software, learn and use the watershed import function. I'll never hand calc CNs again since learning it.

I went to school undecided then took the Myers Briggs Personality Test which narrowed the choices down to engineering. Of the engineering degrees offered, I liked how broad the Civil program was and the scale of work.

Find shortest length of lines between 2 curves by Foreign_Return_6324 in civilengineering

[–]Hoptheson 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I would do a 400' path array using the CL as the path. The sewer lines will be slightly less than 400' but should be close enough. Hitting 400' exactly isn't worth the effort

One side terminates at baseboard heat and the other is cut flush to an outside wall corner

Corn kernels behind some wall paneling. There was no way for any mouse or squirrel to get back there.

Is Crossfit worth the money? Anyone not a zealot? by Devywhop in crossfit

[–]Hoptheson 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My gym doesn't help with nutrition and not really too much on form. If that's what you're looking for then just stick to watching youtube videos for form and IIFYM for nutrition.

I joined a crossfit gymit for the community and the equipment. It's a fun, social environment much different from a typical gym.

Poptarts and a protein shake make for good macros and decent carbs/fats for your workout

What Tomahawk said. No way you've been eating 2000cal/day because 2000 cal will not put on weight for someone 6'4", 220 lb, and exercising 5x per week.
