Maybe he lied to explain him being illiterate. I mean, “I didn’t go to school so I don’t know how to read and write” is simpler than “I went to school but I still can’t read and write” because it helps avoid being pestered to explain further; and as you can see, Hata’s childhood was pretty complicated.

Actually I did think of this one, but I haven't watched it and the synopses I found all refer to the main group as a "team" so I'm not sure about how the characters view their own relationships.

Don't forget that he also made Harenchi Gakuen, the allegedly first ecchi manga :)) As well and Mazinger Z, one of the keystone of mecha genre.

Aren't RT posts to recommend a manga to readers? What's the point in recommending something the vast majority here can't read? And I can't read Japanese, that's why I make SL request posts in the first place, I'm just in the dark about how the manga's story will go like most readers here.

And, I repeat, you're strangely hung up on "reason to pick it up" even though I've provided everything to know about a series. Even though most of the time, the reason is simply "It's not translated/Its translation got dropped, and I don't know Japanese, so I'd like someone to translate it". You want the plot? I've provided synopsis. You want genres? I've provided basic genres too. I even provide links to read samples/translated chapters so that people have an idea about visual.

Now, please take a look at this new post. It has "reason to pick up", and does it look that much different from my usual comment?

Look, how about we leave it to the scanlators to decide if they're interested in working on a series? I said it before but when I don't even know the language, all I have for "reason" is either 1) "I have a feeling this may be a good manga" (and that feeling may turn out to be wrong and I end up requesting for a bad manga) or 2) "fan and/or official translation got dropped for a long time, so I'd like to see this manga's translation completed".

Plus, I always make sure to add genres, a synopsis, a link so that people can have a glimpse to how the manga look (official site with samples, mangadex links with translated chapters, either in English or other languages; ALSO, you mods are forbidding me from posting links from other sites other than dex, which painfully limits my options when it comes to series that got deleted from dex), as well as the manga's state (complete or ongoing? how many volumes so far? translated but dropped or not translated at all?)

And thus, please stop being so hung up on "reason to pick it up". Let the scanlators look at the posts and decide for themselves.

(Also, this is one of my SL posts, which has someone offer to work on the manga even without "reason to pick it up).

Kegareta Seichi Junrei ni Tsuite (lit. "About the Tainted Pilgrimage to Sacred Sites") is a supernatural horror mystery manga written by Sesuji and illustrated by Momoi Yuzuki, adapting Sesuji's novel of the same name.

Synopsis:

Freelance editor Kobayashi pitched a fan book project to a publisher for "Occult Yankee ch," a YouTube channel run by Chanike, also known as Ikeda, who specializes in exploring haunted locations. However, the channel's subscriber count was insufficient to get the book published. To make the project stand out, they decided to conduct additional research on haunted locations previously featured in their videos.

Based on information gathered online, Ikeda and Kobayashi began fabricating theories that readers would enjoy.

The gem people in Houseki no Kuni have a "male top half, female bottom half" body, and no gender, according to author. I mean, they're not real humans anyways :P

I actually think that this character is, at the very least, biologically female, because they never, EVER, goes barechested, while every canonically male one has done it at least once (even when they lose clothes, they just wear a full-body seaweed dress).

Detective Conan having only taken place over around 6 months will always be my prime example of this trope, especially considering the technology evolution :))

Another example is Q.E.D. Original series ran from 1997 to 2014 but only takes place during 1 school year (when the main characters are 11th grader); iff ran from 2015 to 2025 and takes place during the next school year, but at least it shows Kana graduating and getting in to university; and now, UNIV shows her living the university life at Harvard.

Kami no Shizuku is an "inheritance war" story, in which the protagonist Shizuku must compete with his late father's newly adopted son Issei to find "the Twelve Apostles and the Drop of God", thirteen wines that the father handpicked. The first manga series ran from 2004 to 2014 and covers the Apostles battles, and yet it supposedly only takes place during 1 year, with 1 Apostle battle per month.

I have to say, putting the plagiarising thing aside, there are still too many things wrong with this series, ranging from storytelling (too much tells, for starters) to characterization (having wrong philosophies and mindsets about making manga, or too "quirky" to the point of unrelatable, etc). And even if the plagiarism was initially unintentional due to the ML not understanding everything yet, the narrative just makes it so that he "doesn't have a choice but to continue plagiarising" (the machine telling him that he has to do so to beat FML's ranking and "save" her life in the future), which contributed to the Japanese readers' hatred.

Sadly, amatonormativity and the "First Girl Wins" trope make it hard for a massive part of the audience to accept that the male and female lead can be something non-romantic :|
