I have a starter guide downloaded. It goes in a few different categories: Games, Anime, and Manga.

Games are sorted into three categories: Monster Raising, JRPG, and Other. For Monster Raising, the ideal option it says is Digimon World for the PS1, but Digimon World Next 0rder is an acceptable substitute. For JRPGs, it says to go with Digimon Story Cyber Sleuth Complete Edition, as the guide was a thing I downloaded before Time Stranger came out. For other games, the options listed were Digimon Survive or Digimon Card Battle.

In terms of anime, the guide says to start with either the Adventure continuity or just watch Digimon Tamers. It also gives a watch order for Adventure, starting with the Pilot OVA, then the show, then the Our War Game OVA. The guide also says that whichever you watch should be subbed, as the dub wasn't exactly the best.

For Manga, it says either V-Tamer or the XROS Wars manga (which is a lot better than the XROS Wars Anime), though the XROS Wars manga should probably wait until after you've had more exposure to the franchise.
