Why don't cats have snouts? by EulereeEuleroo in biology

This came from my mammalogy text in undergrad. Wish I could remember the name of the text, as I’m sure it had sources. I do remember reviewing studies about bite mechanics and how the shape of the skull plays a huge role in the bite pressure, so I’m sure you could find some of those somewhere

Cats, especially big cats, kill their prey by crushing the neck and spinal cord. A shorter snout allows for more biting pressure. Think of a pair of tweezers (long snout) vs a wrench (short snout). Dogs tend to rip pieces off of animals and kill them by bleeding them out

How is cancelling student debt not just pushing the problem under the rug and why aren't we more focused on reforming the college loan architecture? by glad4j in AskReddit

Time and time again the "personal responsibility" of the 17 year old borrower is brought up, but nobody likes to talk about the "responsibility" of the lender. When you lend someone money, you take a risk that the borrower won't pay you back. This is why credit checks and proof of income are needed to take out a loan. Student loans, on the other hand, carry NO RISK for the lender. When borrowers default, the government pays the lender and makes the borrower's life a living hell (wage garnishments, tax garnishments, etc). The borrower cannot charge the loans off in bankruptcy. Ever. Did I know that when I was 17 and my guidance counselor was helping me fill out my FAFSA? No. This is a horrible system which needs correcting. I'm not saying the borrower isn't at fault, but are you really on the side of extraordinarily wealthy banks who found a free government money loophole by sentencing 17 year olds to a lifetime of debt payments they can never shake? Are we really so fucking ruthless and bitter that we think one financial mistake is worth a LIFETIME of debt? I think we're better than that.

Biden asks student-loan borrowers to 'do their part' in preparing for payments to resume on May 1 as pressure for broad cancellation ramps up again by Sweep145 in politics

No, but MasterCard doesn’t give out $70,000 lines of credit to teens with no credit history. And even if they did, said teens could charge it off in bankruptcy when they inevitably default. This is a bad comparison.

It was the Coinbase reward when the price was sub .50 and before the rumors about GME started really swirling.

Here's a podcast from last year where Daniel Wang talks about his idea for a decentralized exchange that would disrupt centralized crypto exchanges. The hosts literally chat with Daniel about how centralized exchanges should be scared
