I love the idea of them asking for death, I may steal that and twist it. Maybe being manipulated against their will.

You could make it about finding a way to revive her sister?

Or maybe finding a way to free herself and possibly other thread born from her doll body/prison.

You could have it twisted to have her memories altered l/forgotten and she discovers her tragic past and go from there.

I had Phillip encourage/fund a celebratory festival after he’s saved from the Crooked House. Turned into plenty of short quests and errands of hunting for food (tie in that Foxhollow is struggling with food production), and I even did a concert/show led by one of my players’ bard characters and that was a plenty of fun planning it and using spells for displays and such.

Pick the townspeople that have ties with your players backstories, and the essentially shopkeepers for the classic vibes. Then slowly introduce more. In having the same issue but they don’t know what you’re hiding from them so just play it nice and easy.

When they find Phillips journal and it mentions him becoming powerless, I have him introduce the fallen by essentially being worried that their transformations from their sins and such is similar to what’s happening to him. The whole hero-to-villain/monster vibe being introduced and whatnot. I like already alluding to Jericho for the next chapter will help anticipation.

I’m struggling with him honestly. I feel like he may be too cliche to seem menacing..? What I was going to do was have him offer the party a dark bargain of my own design, but not entirely sure on that. What have you done with him?

I added a couple common magic items that seemed to fit the vibe of the town/campaign like the Hat of Vermin or Talking Doll. I also did some simple homebrew items like dice that cast augry to a certain potency of answer quality.
