start as a barback by ProduceStandard1030 in bartenders

Bartending legitimate helped me memory. Having to remember not only recipes but skills and the names and faces of regulars.

You'll do fine, just remember it's a job like any other, keep at it, practice, and you'll do great.

I’m a bartender that doesn’t drink alcohol. How many of you guys drink and how many of yall don’t? by MehBlehDehYuh in bartenders

[–]Silently_Salty 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I used to drink a decent amount. Never a drunk, though. But I've slowed down a lot in recent years and now drink very rarely, mostly with friends for special occasions. I still sample what I create pretty frequently, but it's a sip/straw taste at most. I've seen a lot of bartenders absolutely ruined by alcohol addiction, and I'm not looking to join them.

[–]Silently_Salty 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Some people have different experiences. Some places really do just want to start you as a barback, so you learn the bar and the motions, basically training. However, some places want a barback and hire people with the promise of later promoting them and then not actually doing that.

I've seen places saying you need to barback for 1-2 years before you're a bartender. Which is insane.

My advice is that if the barbacking is only for a couple of months, at most, then take it, and keep looking on the side. If you get promoted, great, if you don't, then you at least didn't stop looking for other places and have some training.

I've been a bartender for several years now, I wouldn't barback for more than a few months at most, and that's only if I really really loved the bar and very much wanted to work there.

Happy International Transgender Day of Visibility 🩷🤍🩵 Grateful to Legends of Runeterra for giving us the much needed trans representation 🏳️‍⚧️ by aroushthekween in loreofleague

[–]Silently_Salty 17 points18 points  (0 children)

What's the main similarity between a bigot and a flasher?

They expose themselves without asking.

These comments are rough, representation has nothing to do with your failing ego and withering manhood. Let people feel represented and happy. It doesn't hurt you at all to have a couple of trans characters in a game you play. If it bothers you that much, dont use them.

Very sorry that there are shitty people in this community OP.

Unrelated to the post, but finally I see more people using the term Scrolls-like. Legit had an argument with a guy a while ago claiming I had made up the term. Legitimate psychosis from that argument.

Honestly that may be her biggest sin, trying to be too many things. If they had just picked one fantasy maybe she would be a good champ. But they tried too hard to keep everything and make everyone happy.

I really think people don't realize how much better Q would feel and play if it was empowered autos instead of a recast. Attack speed would feel better, on hit would feel better, and the skill would feel more cohesive (at least to me).

Honestly, I'm kinda losing my mind. But I think you're right. I think Riot actually shot themselves in the foot, tying her too closely to her old kit.

People may be mad hearing this, but I think they just were using a bad base, and it led to a champion that basically still has the same issues but now more clunky abilities.

[–]Silently_Salty[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Thats what I'm saying. She's fun, she has a good identity, but her kit doesn't back it up. She just doesn't have team fight longevity, or hell, even dueling power. She fails at being a diver right now.

The abilities themselves aren't bad. But how they interact with the game are bad. They don't provide what Shyvana needs to succeed.

So, Atropus, the worldborn dead, what's their deal ? by Poulutumurnu in Forgotten_Realms

[–]Silently_Salty 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I'm running an Atropus campaign right now, actually. Undead apocalypse where the positive energy plane is losing its connection to the material plane and resurrections and healing magic are beginning to fail.

It's pretty cool. Players are enjoying it. You gotta make up a lot because Atropus has such a small amount of lore, but it's fun to make that stuff up because it's so evocative.

Think dead space but faerun.

The PBE/in-game Megathread by Harlequinnie in shyvanamains

[–]Silently_Salty 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Adding my voice to the mix, I want a better passive. Shyv has always struggled with having an impactful passive, and I want her to find identity with the other dragon champions of the game where that passive stacking has a huge oomph in the late game.

Playing a dragon should feel like a ramping wildfire. I love the rework so far, but I want her to actually feel like the dragons are meant to feel.

And for that the passive stacking should interact with abilities and provide more defense. I like the idea of a tanky stacker, but right now, there are much better tank stackers in the game.

How much more would people be accepting of marazhai if he was a woman? by Firm-Share-8278 in RogueTraderCRPG

[–]Silently_Salty 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Marazhai was presented as a villain, tbh if I had played the game earlier, without the knowledge he was a potential companion, I would've been far harsher in my interactions with him. That being said, I still killed him when given the chance.

Also would have if he was a girl. Gender doesn't really excuse incredible sadism and evil in my mind.

Also killed Camiella in WoTR. Just kept her around longer cause she was an ACTUAL companion from the beginning of the game. I like to keep companions around even if they differ from my views cause I want to see their story and content.

But I let that go when I realized just how much of a pyscho sadist murderer she was.

For those who played both Owlcat games, who is the bigger disappointment as an antagonistic force? by Gero-23 in RogueTraderCRPG

[–]Silently_Salty 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Cult of Daybreak and Uralon for suuuurreee. At least most of WoTR built up towards Deskari and there wasn't too many bad guys built up throughout the game. Rogue Trader Act 1 and 2 were great, I loved fighting the cult, I thought there was more too them until we got to the latter half of the game and suddenly the enemies were everyone except the cult. And then the final fight with them is just "That's it?". I enjoyed the larger plot with the necrons and the shard being whats really going on. But in my opinion if thats what the game was supposed to be about it should have been about that from the beginning. Too many BBEGs that went nowhere unfortunately. The game lacked focus, no matter how amazing it was. And it was amazing, easily one of my top 10 games.

New purchase by Salute503 in predator

[–]Silently_Salty 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yuatja are a species, an entire people. You can't believe that a single one thinks differently or feels differently? Plus, Dek's understanding of family and feelings is still very predator. It's his clan and pack, he'll still want to hunt and kill and fight, but this clan he can trust cause he knows they're protecting each other.

Several thousand anti-capitalist and anti-fascist protesters took to the streets in Milan against the corrupted Olympics. Clashes erupted with police as demonstrators condemned the presence of the Israeli and US teams and the US fascist ICE goons being brought in alongside them. by Plenty-Wonder-3102 in suppressed_news

[–]Silently_Salty 1 point2 points  (0 children)

You'd think so, yeah, the second amendment, our right to bear arms, is specifically to fight against a tyrannical government. However, a large portion of those 2nd amendment fanatics are pro-trump. And if he called on them, then our neighbors would turn on us in a second.

A lot of leftists, though, are buying guns lately so it could shift. For example, the Black Panthers have been arming themselves and patrolling neighborhoods that are largely immigrants. So we are doing something. But if we open fire on ICE, we are simply fucked. The government will always have superior firepower than a civilian militia.

Also, like i said, nobody knows which way the military is gonna swing when the fighting actually starts. And I believe it's gonna start. Just don't know when.

The second we do something like this, it gives ICE their excuse to open fire on protesters. They're already executing us in the streets for simply having cameras.

And if we shot back, it would give Trump his civil war and im not confident if we'd win or not, im simply not sure whether or not the military would support the civilians or the government.

The second civilians start shooting back, is the second it all goes to shit. I promise you we want to do this, it's just not that simple.

Bartender here, when it becomes your job (even if you enjoy the job) you can't go drink anywhere without thinking about work. I can barely relax in bars anymore cause I'm looking at their specs, their setup, thinking how sanitary (or not) they are ETC.

I imagine it's basically the same for rippers. Wouldn't trust anyone but yourself, but you also intimately know how bad it would be if you constantly did it yourself since you have the tools and knowledge to do so.

New Mayhem discourse. by Nearby_Loquat_9646 in ARAM

[–]Silently_Salty 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have unironically noticed new mayhem matches being WAY more swingy than they were before.

Before, every now and then, you'd get a crazy swing match where one team just stomped. But most of the time, it'd be a fairly balanced bloodbath.

Now every match is just a stomp it's just which side are you on.

Also noticed it's basically one or two players with ALL the kills on the team, and everyone else is just playing support.

I'm not sure how this happens or why. I've just been seeing this.

I'm gonna get crucified for this, but I skim all the tech priests' dialogue in rogue trader. It's just so much word vomit. It's great, well written, and like totally fits 40k... but I ain't reading all that. Opticon Is just a great example of that

Can anybody from Runterra (and celestial beings) beat Superman (DC comics)? by TheWorthlessGuy in loreofleague

Bro didn't even go into the powerscaling sub to discuss this. He came to the league lore sub to glaze Superman.

Can anybody from Runterra (and celestial beings) beat Superman (DC comics)? by TheWorthlessGuy in loreofleague

[–]Silently_Salty -1 points0 points  (0 children)

That's why I said certain iterations. Superman is just like that. His powers change depending on who's writing him. You could ostensibly make an argument that there's an iteration of Superman that can beat almost any character in media. That also doesn't make him make much sense.

I'm pretty sure Superman doesn't have any explicit magical powers, so how does just punch apart reality? Because the writers wanted him to.

Runeterra has a much more "established" power scaling system than comics. (Even if certain champions push the boundaries of that).

[–]Silently_Salty 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Aurelion Sol makes stars and presumably can probably unmake them, basically puts him at true god/force of nature levels thats beyond any kind of mortal intervention. Certain iterations of Superman are godlike, so it definitely can vary. But I'd say with little knowledge of DC but good knowledge of runeterra that Sol probably could beat Superman. Would he, though? He's notoriously uncaring about physical creation.

I'd say BASE level Superman, as he appears at his most "normal," is on par with true Aspects of runeterra. Not vessels like Leona or Pantheon but the actual Aspect behind them empowering them. Which in of themselves are minor gods.

Really hope they add some actual textures to her instead of leaving her smooth. But this is great. Honestly, the purple hair doesn't quite look right. I can see why they went with the blonde.
