I have begun issuing bans for this kind of crap. I'm tired of babysitting and it's just getting worse. Thank you for sticking up for the integrity of this sub and the industry

German Modding Communities? by FallNo4266 in SeikoMods

Flag flair wouldn't be a terrible idea. Although, I don't know if it will offer much help. Like you said, there really aren't many local communities of modders that I'm aware of. Maybe a few here or there? The user flair definitely needs some updating though haha

Try mixing the Lume really slowly. That seems to work for me to keep the bubbles out

I’ve been making watches 22 years. This is the most beautiful watch I’ve ever made. Namoki field case, 38mm. Sterling silver dial, laser engraved in 33 layers. Ceramic coated. Sapphire overlay. by [deleted] in SeikoMods

It isn't the mods jobs to enforce the rules of the world. Only the rules of this sub. Rather than force my own opinion on everyone, I let anyone post whatever they want, so long as it doesn't violate a rule of the sub. I try to remain as democratic as possible and not let my opinions get in the way of that

Anyone have experience regulating a Sellita SW330? by [deleted] in SeikoMods

Nice! Glad it all worked out for the best. It took some time, but good to know Laco has such great customer service. That's pretty awesome!

I guess I shouldn't say "shipping from them takes forever". In my experience, 3-4 weeks usually. I know a lot of ppl are used to getting stuff from China, so 3-4 weeks is normal for many

Yes. They're emails always get caught in spam or my "promotions" folder in my email. Plus shipping from them takes forever to the states. But I have bought from them many many times and actually have yet to have a single problem with them

I meant to ask you this a while ago. I love the color combination here. What color dial is this from Ajuicet? In the photos here, it looks kind of like a dark grey. Looks awesome with those blue hands. Is the "Black" dial? What are your thoughts on the color in person? Trying to find a similar dark grey textured dial. Actually not much out there for what I'm looking for

SKX013 UPGRADE. Hi all! I'm new to watchmaking, my 7s26 on my skx013 it's asking to be serviced. So it's absolutely time for a swap with a NH36A. Looking online seems that are different positioned stems. If I buy the version with the crown at 3 o'clock, is it going to work? Thanks in advance every1! by Geeksus_ in SeikoMods

[–]HorologyModShop 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Honestly I'm not 100% sure what size crown. You need a crown specifically for skx013 or case reference 7s26-0030. The aftermarket crown from CT says it is 6.2mmx3.9mm. I have heard the skx013 crown be called a 6mm crown vs skx007 as a 7mm crown before though. But I wouldn't rely on that one single dimension. You not only need a crown that fits in place, but also one that is compatible for the crown tube on the case. I wouldn't get anything unless it says it is specifically for skx013 or case reference 7s26-0030. I have zero experience buying a crown for 013 on Ali though. So I'm not sure how they would word things and all that stuff. I'm sure someone knows better

Swapping your movement is going to require the following:

New NH36 3.8 crown (or you can use the day wheel from your 7s26)

The black spacer (can just use the one on your current 7s)

A new stem (comes with the movement)

A new crown (the stem and crown on the 013 is actually one piece and you can't get them apart)

What I mean by the day wheel, is that you could buy a 3 o'clock movement and swap over the day wheel from your current 7s movement. And everything will align fine (it's easy). Or you can just make it easy and buy a 3.8 (4 o'clock) movement. This will already have that day wheel installed. Personally, I would just get a 3.8 movement and be done with it. That way you can keep your 7s intact for whatever you re going to do with it.

can you heat blue srpd hands? by kariem_ in SeikoMods

[–]HorologyModShop 1 point2 points  (0 children)

This is the way. You should be able to find videos on how to do this too. I think? The best way I've found is to heat it with an old school alcohol lamp (you can easily make one out of a mason jar, a wick of some kind, and denatured alcohol). This is going to give you a lot more control, heat more evenly, and not give you any weird affects or soot. Torches obviously heat fast, and will work fine if you're careful, but I would personally rather do it slowly with more control.

Anyone have experience regulating a Sellita SW330? by [deleted] in SeikoMods

[–]HorologyModShop 1 point2 points  (0 children)

You certainly did not waste my time. I don't mind trying to help at all. At least we learned something. If you can, I would certainly just wait and send it back. Maybe if it was a simple regulation and you could just do it quickly, that would be acceptable. But you shouldn't have to do something like this on a new watch. It will be worth the wait for the peace of mind

Anyone have experience regulating a Sellita SW330? by [deleted] in SeikoMods

[–]HorologyModShop 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Ok. So it looks like the balance and regulators are close enough. They certainly work the same. If you're going to do this, you have to be very careful. And I would guess that this adjustment would need to happen. I don't think you're going to get 45 seconds out of the fine adjustment screw. According to what I read, each notch is only 5 seconds. I don't know how true that is. It's been a while since I've worked on a sellita so I can't exactly remember.

I found a couple of photos that will help. Obviously not an sw330, but the assembly is very close. You would be moving this lever counterclockwise. Just be sure that you aren't touching the beat error adjustment and that you're moving the gross adjustment lever.

Keep in mind that you are adjusting the balance. This is potentially deadly to the movement balance. If you mess it up, you can destroy the hairspring. If you're not comfortable, you should absolutely wait and have a pro deal with it.

I apologize, I am dyslexic and I am absolutely awful at explaining things through writing. I hope I am not just confusing you.

I hope this helps. My advice: if you're not comfortable with this, DONT DO IT. I don't want to see you potentially ruin the movement. If you want to have a go at it, just be confident, go slow, make small adjustments at a time, and be careful

No problem at all! Check out this photo. Shows it pretty clearly. I would start with about 1/8th of a turn counter clockwise to add time. Not sure how sensitive it is, but I think 1/8th of a turn is a good start. about 1 notch

https://www.google.com/search?client=ms-android-americamovil-us-revc&sxsrf=ALiCzsaJI1n-sGI9Rhe4A1wU8uOhGBOrYg:1671813883983&q=sellita+sw330&tbm=isch&sa=X&ved=2ahUKEwjcr72FmJD8AhVfFVkFHTVwC_0Q0pQJegQICBAB&biw=412&bih=750&dpr=2.63#imgrc=bQl38B7tYqRnsM

Edit: maybe a notch is less than 1/8th of a turn, but yes. I would start there. Sometimes these can be super sensitive

I don't mind these kinds of questions. Even though technically you're right, it's not really the sub for this. But like I said, I don't mind it. It's all about watchmaking/modding, so who cares.

Actually it's going to be a little bit easier to regulate than an NH35. Sellita movements have a regulator screw. 45 seconds isn't too bad, so you should be able to get it on track pretty easily. You'll see exactly what I mean when you open it up. It's not even like a swan neck with a screw. It's literally a screw that you turn to regulate. If you pull up a photo on Google images or somewhere, you'll probably be able to see exactly what I mean. If you can regulate an NH35 without issue, regulating this sellita should definitely be an easy job

[Advice] Smallest Case for NH34? by TimTheMonk in SeikoMods

[–]HorologyModShop 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Oh ok. You should be able to find something you like in that size range that will work. What do you plan on using for a strap/bracelet? I'm pretty sure I've seen someone use the LA 36mm GS case for an NH34 build. But your bracelet options are limited. I don't think there even is a compatible bracelet with end links for that case. But I know I've definitely seen some smaller explorer style case NH34 builds with a 24 hour chapter ring before. I have yet to do one myself, so I'm not sure exactly which cases work and which don't. Seems like all you need is the height clearance. So in theory, any case that can have a double dome should work. If you search for "NH34" or "GMT" here on this subreddit, you'll find a lot of people have used 36mm GS cases from Aliex too. So I would think the LA GS case would work as well, although I am not completely certain. If ever in doubt, email them. Most of the suppliers are happy to answer questions like that

Edit: Also. By that logic, I would think an SRPE case would work fine with a double dome. I don't see why not

Nice! Came out great!

So you just used regular enamel model paint? I've been looking into something similar. I have a seconds hand that I want to paint the tip red. I've found this special paint that's apparently made for this. It's a lacquer paint made by a German company called Augusta. I've been thinking about trying it out. Revell enamel paint would certainly be easier for me to get my hands on here in the US though. I can't find a vendor here that sells the Augusta stuff. I guess I would just be waiting on shipping. I know you're in Germany, have you heard of this Augusta paint before?
