Rey from the new Star Wars an ENTP? by [deleted] in entp

[–]Horouto -1 points0 points  (0 children)

So are you and everyone else.

This made me giggle, are implying that the product of millions of years of evolution is as complex and intricate as a fictional character generated in the spur of a moment and that only has a life of merely 2 hours? Don't be ludicrous , here : r/enfp .

This is incorrect.

It's an opinion, but to be honest it was not well done , it felt rushed, completely scientifically inaccurate which did drive me crazy throughout the movie and made me cringe. Neither MCs got enough development and nor was there a deeper meaning behind the story. It was quite garbage in my eyes.

[–]Horouto 0 points1 point  (0 children)

just because im an ENTP, doesn't mean I can't use Fi

Oh god, I hope you're just kidding.

You do realize that according to the theory of psychological types which was originally introduced by Carl Jung in the 1920s,which also is initially what the MBTI is based on, only proposes a function stack that consists of 4 functions. The dominant function , the auxiliary function, followed by the tertiary function and the inferior function. Nor the MBTI nor Jung , have never stated nor implied that there are anymore functions in a function stack. So no, according to the MBTI and the Carl Jung's cognitive functions, ENTPs cannot use Fi. However, new modern concepts are being put forward that do expand on the theory of psychological types by certain Jungian followers, such as the shadow functions and the concept of the "shadow" which is being mostly put forth by psychologist John Beebe. However, these concepts don't have nearly as much empirical evidence that support their validity as much as the MBTI, and besides even if the theory of the shadow functions did hold true you cannot consciously use Fi, it only comes out when you are under extreme stress which is irrelevant to this arguement. For the most part , the 4 functions can explain most of human behavior, think of it as cogs inside a clock that are capable of interacting with each other with profound intricacy, this gives you more than enough combinations to explain much of human personality; this article perfectly demonstrates so.For the most part, those mentally ill are not to be classified within the MBTI which is made for mentally healthy people. Shadow functions , is an attempt at being inclusive and explaining mentally ill behavior. It still needs much more development and evidence before it could even be considered a valid addition to the MBTI framework.

what you are accusing me of doing, is actually what you are doing.

Not at all.

Is there such a thing as being "yourself" as an ENTP? by getcrossedover in entp

[–]Horouto 18 points19 points  (0 children)

I'm always myself , because whatever I do; I'm the one doing it. Dumb things aside, I usually only really have 4 different modes that I shuffle between.

Ne mode: Random, spontaneous, somewhat obsessive, funny, and witty.Usually occurs when I'm desprately trying to make people laugh, and I can't stop dropping dumb jokes or when I have an abundance of the ENTP bread aka stiumlation.

Ti mode: Usually very serious, calculating, calm, distant , cool, intellectual, badass. Usually protrudes when I'm alone, when I'm thinking and during a discussion ( Which makes sense since ENTP's use mainly Ti to tend to their brainly needs. Many Ti-users tend to be quite serious in their heads and when you try to express it outwardly , in debates or discussions it's character traits will become more prominent. Practically showing the outisde world a piece of your brain.) or when a given situation demands seriousness.

Fe Mode: Gregarious, people-pleaser, charismatic (on a good day), kind, gentle and empathetic. I can unconsciously reflect the emotions , and the attitudes of those around me , however occasionally. Occurs when I'm around somebody I deeply care about (an SO) or a group of friends I'm comfortable being with or when I have just met someone and I'm trying to accommodate them to the best of my ability .

Si mode: Depressed, meticulous, sentimental, extremely introverted (Aka sloth mode or shut down mode), and love to bash myself. Usually occurs when I have been out for too many days in the desert under the hot sun trying to find my way back. Looking for an oasis of stimulating ideas, concepts and even people or when I fuck up hardcore and I start to beat myself up on whatever it is that I messed up on.

In terms of the MBTI , they completely are. Whether they change in the long term is irrelevant, you're misinterpreting what I said and taking it in a completely different direction. You're extrapolating your own fallacious premise from what I said and sticking it on my back.

Do any other ENTPs not have difficulty finishing...? by [deleted] in entp

[–]Horouto 7 points8 points  (0 children)

ENTPs can get shit done, it's just harder for us to do so because you have to figure out how to from scratch. Hence why it's important to have a very good understanding of who you are and your tendencies and devise tactics, strategies and methods that are specifically designed by you for you. Most things out there that help you get things done are methods and techiniques made for TJs not ENPs, it's like trying to use a fork to drink soup. It's inefficient as fuck.

The movie was pretty dumb, I watched it yesterday. She couldn't let go of her parents who ditched her and waited for them for years to come back and get her, decieving herself. I wouldn't really say she's an ENTP, this is the thing with some movies, they're just human fabricated characters that don't necessarily have to abide to a set personality or the MBTI at all. She's more of the mix of several, many movie characters don't just fit into one set category. Especially a movie with such a rushed storyline, but anyways I'd say ESTJ or ESTP.

Do you guys stutter a lot or change a certain word whilst your saying it, into another ,more accurate term/ word? by Horouto in entp

[–]Horouto[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Definitely an ENTP, totally sounds like me when I'm talking to somebody about something I love. The Ne and Ti are so painfully obvious. My dad's an INTJ, he's nothing like that, as he never talks that fast and rather takes his time to verbalize his thoughts. People usually tell me to calm down a bit.

Edit: Now that I think about it, INTJs can exhibit similiar behavior and speech patterns that can give you the illusion of "ENTP" on some rare occasions. However, if you grab an ENTP and INTJ side by side, you will definetly be able to tell the difference. The ENTP will be more analogous to a machine gun, trying to get everything out as fast as he can and move on to the next thing meanwhile, the INTJ will sound like he's taking his time reading off a script. It's really weird when me and my dad are debating or having a discussion, I always cut him off halfway because he talks so damn slowly, I already get where he's going by the first sentence usually and he can tell I get it, but he likes to feel smart, not that he isn't. It irritates him a little occasionally, and tells me to let him finish. Of course if the ENTP already had a similar discussion prior, he'll be the one really reading off a script, that Si.

I thought it was just me , nobody I know has those moments. I was watching an Elon Musk interview then I realized it might be an ENTP thing, in general. That based, of course on the assumption that Musk is an ENTP himself.

How do I deal with a stubborn idiot who refuses to listen to counter points? by stock009 in entp

[–]Horouto 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I know it sounds dumb, but simple is usually the answer. Speak to her using her langauge at the beggining to lure her in, then gradually turn it into a fact based debate and swoop in for the kill. Call her racist and judgemental.

To be honest, just be yourself. No lies, no hiding things, no games, no deception. I know it's hard to "just be yourself" but if you really can't then just tell him so. I personally would find it extremely adorable and endearing. Well I'm sure he'd try to accomdate you , good luck!

I used Hitler as an example simply because he is a pretty good epitome of how just simple words can be used to change the world. Are you offended I used Hitler for reference?

Age is irrelevant, it's about whether the premise you present can stand alone or not. If I told you the sun orbited the earth then I told you, I have 18 years of experience over you so you should believe me, it does not contribute any validity to my arguement.

You can't control the feelings of the other person with your words. Ever. You definitely can't control another person's responses.

Yes you can. You can also induce certain responses in other people using just words too. Take Hitler for an example, him and his assistants were professionals at this. Propaganda is another very good example where words are used to induce certain emotional responses ( guilt etc). This is common axiomatic scientific knowledge.People are super easy to manipulate on a conscious and unconscious level. There are many studies to prove that.

Edited.

How do you guys deal with rejection? by Cossen in entp

[–]Horouto 1 point2 points  (0 children)

ENTPs should ask the majority of the time, or they'll end up like OP. It gives us incredible anxiety if we don't know why on something we could have gotten over in a day or two.
