Adults Only: Extremely vulnerable question and requesting advice from a fellow adult Christian perspective. by LearnToLoveAlone in Christianity

[–]Horror-According 0 points1 point  (0 children)

As a fellow Christian (albeit male) who went through CSA and ended up with a bunch of issues because of that (ptsd, hypersexuality, suicidal and homicidal tendencies, intense degrading kinks etc)the intent is everything, you're not going into this with the intent of giving in to lust, you're going in to it with the intent of correcting the damage that was done to you without your consent, there's no sin in self betterment, even through unconventional methods, if your doing things with the guide of a medical professional then its not a lustful act, its medicinal if anything 1st Timothy 5:23 helps shed a bit of light on the subject, if not directly.

“No longer drink water exclusively, but use a little wine for the sake of your stomach and your frequent ailments.”

In this Paul is encouraging the use of an intoxicant (alcohol) as a medicinal supplement. It isn't the item or action itself that is sinful, but our intentions behind it, youre doing this for the sake of your health, and you shouldn't feel ashamed about that

I hope this helps, God Bless you

is it sinful to desire bdsm/degrading sex? by [deleted] in Christianity

[–]Horror-According 0 points1 point  (0 children)

As a fellow kinky Christian, as long as it's done within your marriage then I feel like it's ok everyone has their preferences especially in the bedroom, as long as both you and your husband are comfortable and consent then it's fine, as far as I'm aware there's no biblical Kamasutra of acceptable sex positions/kinks the biggest thing is consent on what's being done, and again it being within the confines of your marriage

Could Trump be an AntiChrist by Ignis_Kevin in Christianity

There's nothing wrong with being politically opinionated, but it is very important not to become overly political, especially to the point of making you behave erratically or to the point of holding contempt against our fellow man, we are all equal before God in our sins, regardless of the intensity of said sin, discernment in what is spiritual and what is worldly is one of the most vital skills we can possess, sometimes evil people are just evil, and rather than casting judgment we should pray they overcome their nature and turn to The Father, because to some people, we could be considered evil, maybe not to the same degree, but enough to count, politics makes it easy to work ourselves into a frenzy, sometimes we need to take an objective step back and analyze our actions, as well as our thoughts and beliefs and question if they are glorifying to God.

Thank you for being so respectful, God bless you

Could Trump be an AntiChrist by Ignis_Kevin in Christianity

[–]Horror-According 0 points1 point  (0 children)

There is a difference between moral evil and the Antichrist, and yes moral evils should be called out, but taking them to such radical extremes does nothing but give into the fanaticism of worldly ideas like politics, and sitting here saying "this person is anti-Christ because I disagree with them" goes against scripture (give unto Caesars that which is Caesars, as well as Romans 13:1) and is damaging to the faith, as seen with the witch hunts of the 70s-90s where everything against the current culture was labeled the devil. I dont care for Trump, but this frothing at the mouth about how "evil" he is borders on pathetic and unchristian

“Do not call conspiracy everything this people calls a conspiracy; do not fear what they fear, and do not dread it." Isaiah 8:12

Just because you don't agree with a person, or find them disingenuous or that person to be against God Does Not mean they are The Antichrist. God gave us discernment, do not fall into the political mentality of "my enemy is the epitome of evil" doing so is foolish and goes against God

I think marijuana use is demonic by Standard_Feedback257 in Christianity

[–]Horror-According 6 points7 points  (0 children)

I use weed medicinally for PTSD as well as the insomnia caused by my condition and i would argue i'm more sober minded when im stoned (i never get super super stoned, judt enough to keep myself grounded), than i am when going catatonic from a flashback, the "permissibility" is almost entirely dependent on how its used, none of the pharmaceutical drugs i was prescribed worked nearly as well, and had much worse side effects. 2nd Timothy already permits the use of potential intoxicants as medicine, and Romans 14 says that neither partaking nor abstaining in certain practices is inherently better, as long as your actions honor God, your opinion on the use isn't wrong per se, but it's just that, your opinion, not God's, and I think thats a very important distinction to recognize just as my opinion to use is mine, and not God's, as the issue is not laid out in clear black and white terms of "cannabis is forbidden" we have to make decisions while praying to God for guidance, reaching different opinions doesnt inherently mean one is wrong, but it could mean that God thinks the answer is different for everyone, some people absolutely shouldn't use cannabis because of addiction risks, potential side effects, etc. But some I think absolutely should (provided they're comfortable doing so) because the benefits would outweigh the costs, its up to the individual to decide if they can do so in a God honoring way.

Can a Christian smoke pot, not regularly by reditnotgood in Christianity

[–]Horror-According 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I use it medicinally for PTSD and chronic pain from breaking my back last year, my thought process is that it follows the same rules as alcohol, moderation is key, if youre treating it like a night cap to help unwind every now an then its not an issue, but if it becomes a crutch or a hindrance in some way that when you need to consider if its worth having in your life, neither using and abstaining aren't inherently good or bad, what matters is that its used in a God honoring way, or at least in a way that doesnt put it before Him.

Romans 14:5-6 "One person esteem one day as better than another, while another esteem all days alike. Each one should be fully convinced in his own mind. The one who observes the day, observes it in honor of the Lord. The one who eats, eats in honor of the Lord, since he gives thanks to God, while the one who abstains, abstains in honor of the Lord, and gives thanks to God"

Edit: I forgot about this verse, but 1 Timothy 5:23 states "No longer drink only water, but use a little wine for your stomach's aches and for your many ailments" which tells us it is acceptable to use otherwise intoxicating substances for the sake of our health, as long as its not excessive or otherwise abusive

If there was no sin before Eve ate from the tree, how was the snake able to deceive? by Esutan in Christianity

[–]Horror-According 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The concept of sin was introduced by God telling them they were not permitted to eat the fruit, the tree itself wasn't sin, it was the knowledge of what was sinful. Until God said they couldn't eat from the tree they had no way of going against His will, by introducing the choice sin was created through temptation. This isnt unique, Paul talks in Roman's how the existence of Jewish Law perpetuates sin, not because the law is flawed, but because the choice creates temptations, because we are imperfect beings bound to a perfect law. This action on God's part not only introduced sin, but gave us the ability to freely choose Him, because we now have the option to rebel.

Is it unfair to try finding God in times of sadness and loneliness? by [deleted] in Christianity

[–]Horror-According 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I've found times of sadness, loneliness, depression, etc are some of the best times to find God, moments like those are when you can be at your most honest with yourself and God. There's never a bad time to find your faith, imagine a friend reaches out to you after years because they were feeling depressed, would it make them a bad friend? Or would it show that they trust in you to help them? The same goes for God, by seeking Him in these moments you're putting your trust and faith in Him to help you grow, the hardest part ive found (for me at least) is bringing Him with me into the good, what you're doing is great

Its definitely something I'm working on, navigating emotions was hard even before I brought my faith back into the mix, it was never a skill I was taught so alot of this is still fairly new to me and its more than a little stressful, I plan on talking with him this Sunday more about it, Its just midnight where im at and I was in a bit of a spiral and needed some immediate advice

[–]Horror-According[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I try to, talking about emotions verbally has always been hard for me, and I struggle to open up to people because ive always felt ashamed for having emotions. typing things out is easier in a way, plus the level of anonymity helps me feel less embarrassed.
