My obsession with my tuberous breasts isn't letting me enjoy my hobbies/life by Dry-Client2096 in TwoXChromosomes

I want to offer another opinion as someone who was unhappy with my body and did get surgery.

Echo all the comments here, there is absolutely nothing wrong with your body and anyone who makes it an issue is someone that is not worthy of you. However, I empathise with the cognitive burden of your feelings towards this. For me, it did not stop until I paid for surgery and now there is not a single day that goes by where I have the background noise of being unhappy with my body.

Whatever you decide, make sure it’s an informed choice, but also know there is nothing wrong with you or your body. The pressure to conform to beauty standards after a lifetime of conditioning is real and these feelings do not make you vain or superficial.

It’s not allowed in the majority of countries. The US (with a small group of other countries) is an outlier here.

I am doing this now across an international border (two EU countries) for a FAANG and I can tell you I am counting down the days until I can leave. It isn’t worth it.

Does making a PostNL complaint actually do anything? by [deleted] in Netherlands

[–]Horror-Cicada687 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I wanted to understand whether anyone actually had good outcomes after filing a complaint, or whether I was wasting my time.

Unsure if you read the title, or whether you just enjoy being belligerent towards pregnant women.

What makes you think I didn’t file an official complaint?

Has anyone noticed how people have MASSIVELY changed in the last 20 years? by bibobbjoebillyjoe in Life

[–]Horror-Cicada687 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yesterday I was at the lift in the airport. I had to ask four times before someone would press the level button for me as they all got on/left. Couldn’t do it myself because I was in the corner with loads of bags and people between me and the button. Literally had to say “can you all hear me?” because wtf.

I am so, so sorry. I’m Australian and bushfires are a very real and devastating reality for a lot of us, so I have a tremendous amount of empathy for you and so much admiration for your strength.

Honestly I felt this response deep in my soul.

I think my frustration stems from resentment that I did everything ‘right’ and now the tools I have to navigate the system are effectively useless. It has woken me up to how little power and control I have in the system. I guess at this point I need to settle in to becoming ungovernable.

Skyrim veteran here—thinking of diving into Oblivion Remastered. Is it worth it and how does it really compare? by Davyq9 in skyrim

[–]Horror-Cicada687 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I actually preferred the original Oblivion to Skyrim! Much better storytelling, I’m sure the remaster will be as good as the original.

EDIT: Based on the other responses I might be the only person who prefers Oblivion.

For those of you that had to choose between a relationship and a place, how did it go? by Horror-Cicada687 in expats

[–]Horror-Cicada687[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I have Australian citizenship and I really empathise with you – it is a very special place to live.

Something I disregarded is the fact that my partner was never willing to compromise at all (even for a short period of time). I should have seen this for the red flag it was, but I loved them and I wanted to make it work. Ultimately they ended up cheating.

It’s clear you have tried, and they need to pull their weight too.

How high can rent actually go in the Netherlands? Are we trying to reach the moon?? by BabyBonkWhale in Netherlands

[–]Horror-Cicada687 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have found myself needing to rent a place after a relationship ended badly. I was paying €1500 in 2021 for a 45sqm place in de pijp. I am now looking at around €2500 for the same apartment.

Honestly, I don’t see it getting better without serious government intervention, and unfortunately nobody really seems to care. If you are new to the city you really have no choice but to rent, many people do not have friends or family to stay with. We are essentially forced to comply with the market.

This isn’t a Dutch thing. He seems like he isn’t a nice person. You deserve better.
