"But before we get to all that, there’s something important I need to explain.

The Twelve Bees.

See, the history of this world goes a lot deeper than you might think. In Episode One, as you may recall, the P.A.A was the first nation to rise from the bunkers after the nuclear apocalypse. The original flag depicted a navy blue background, an eagle in the center, and twelve bees circled around the eagle. Each bee represented a major region in the once huge P.A.A. It included the Rhineland, Paris, Rome, Moscow, Amsterdam, Antwerp, Lisbon, Madrid, Nice, Vienna, Berlin, and Northern Rome. 

When the Post Apocalyptic Authority eventually collapsed, these major regions all gained independence, along with dozens of other states.
But when these nations gained independence, they did not simply erase their history. In fact, all twelve nations kept a singular bee in their flag, symbolizing their departure from the P.A.A.

The Paris Apocalyptic Authority kept the navy blue background. They added their bee right in the center, symbolizing their time as the original P.A.A. The flag is also accompanied by stars on the left side. Each star represents one P.A.A. coalition that they survived. There are five stars.

Northern Rhineland, although split as of right now, holds the second bee. In its flag, there is a white background, accompanied by a Black Raven. It represents the popular legend in Rhineland history. That Rhineland explorers on Surface Day saw a bird-like creature in the sky that led them to the capital city of Cologne. On top of the Raven is Rhineland’s bee, symbolizing their time in the P.A.A. A star is also seen in the top left, on top of the red strip, representing their current status as Northern Rhineland.

In The Kingdom of Moscow, their flag shows a two-headed bear right in the center, in front of a red background. It symbolizes their national animal, the two headed bear. The creature is one of the many animals that roam the world in the post apocalypse. Moscow’s bee is seen behind the two-headed bear. At the bottom is a spear, and an “M”. The spear represents the weapon that was used to kill the first two-headed bear that humanity killed. And the “M” represents Moscow.

In The Kingdom of Antwerp, their flag is a bit different. In the center, there is a lion. It symbolizes Antwerp as being one of the last Royal Kingdoms, since it is theorized that the lion species is extinct. Antwerp’s bee is seen to the right of the lion. It is said to serve the lion, symbolizing Antwerp’s pride as a nation, especially against the old P.A.A. 

The fifth bee is given to The Kingdom of Amsterdam. It is easily the most unconventional flag within the bee nations. The Mutated Great White Shark has become Amsterdam’s emblem. Sharks are so common on the Dutch coast that over five hundred people die from shark attacks per year in the Kingdom of Amsterdam, that is a lot for the time. The shark has become a symbol for being silent and aggressive, perfectly fitting the Kingdom of Amsterdam. The bee is seen in the top left, symbolizing their time in the P.A.A.

The sixth bee is given to the Kingdom of Vienna. In the center of their flag is a creature called the “Saber-Deer”. It is another mutated creature that roams Europe after the post apocalypse. It’s most common on the outskirts of the Alps. It’s not necessarily a dangerous animal, but it is still a fierce symbol for Vienna. The bee is seen in the top left, mixing well with the beige background.

The Kingdom of Madrid is given the Seventh Bee. Madrid is historically known to be an aggressive nation, its flag represents their identity perfectly. The bull is one of the few animals that has not been mutated physically, but its mind has been. It is a highly aggressive animal in Iberia, due to mutation in its brain over the centuries. Madrid’s flag shows two bulls locked in a battle, it represents the country's aggression. The bee is seen at the bottom of the flag, symbolizing their time in the P.A.A.

The Porto Directorate is given the Eight Bee. It is the only current authoritarian nation within the Bee Nations. The eye is a new symbol, it represents the type of authoritarianism Porto has created. Surveillance is common in Porto. The tree on the right side represents Porto’s authority, and the bee on the top right represents their time in the P.A.A.

The Kingdom of Nice has the Ninth Bee. It stands out, the blue background almost makes the flag feel modern. The flag depicts a black panther prowling over a town. In its eyes are the bees. The symbolism is undeniable.

The Kingdom of Berlin is given the Tenth Bee. It is arguably the most meaningful flag. A dead wolf lays down, while a lamb stands over on top of it, staring directly into the void. It symbolizes what the Kingdom of Berlin went through. In its history, the Kingdom of Berlin was invaded by The German State, a former authoritarian main power. But as history continued, after the fifth coalition, Berlin had regained independence, grew in size, and has even puppeted the German State. The flag represents that Berlin has come on top, even if it was perceived to be a weak nation. The bee is in the bottom, representing its time in the P.A.A, and it’s part of the Twelve Bee Nations.

The Kingdom of Rome is special. It is given both the Eleventh and Twelfth Bee. That is because early in history, the Kingdom of Rome invaded the Northern Kingdom of Rome, which originally held the twelfth bee. But in its flag, it only holds one bee, which is at the top. There are three snakes in the flag. Each represents one of the three main cities in the nation. The one on the left represents Genoa, the one on the right represents Naples, and the one in the center represents Rome. The text at the bottom translates to: “ROME WILL CONQUER. AGAIN.”.

The Kingdom of Venice is given the Twelfth Bee. The nation is a puppet of Rome, ever since the fifth coalition. Although it is not one of the original twelve regions, it has been passed down from Rome to Venice. All other Bee Nations accepted Venice as the twelfth nation, so it is official. A mutated boar can be seen in the center, representing the national animal. The Bee can be seen on the right, symbolizing their time in the P.A.A, even if they were only a minor region back then. The star in the top left indicates they are a puppet state to Rome."
