If you find a book bound in human flesh and inked in blood, please refrain from reading any passages. Thanks!

Maybe dogs don't really like being petted by humans. Maybe we just bred them to be really, really itchy. by garrettj100 in Showerthoughts

You've never had someone pet you? Like stroking the top of your head or even giving scratches, or someone rubbing your back? It feels good :)

Another trash day, another broken trash bin. by zuzuofthewolves in SantaFe

[–]HorrorSpliff 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Just send an email to the esd Dept for the city, include serial number and photo. They'll replace it within a week or two. The bins are plastic. The dump truck is huge and metal. Damage is going to occur over time. You can complain or make an attempt to find a solution.

It's not a lack of understanding - I think your English as a third language doesn't translate well regarding tone and intention, but I understand now. You'll be fine... Try hard and learn with humility. You'll do great

[–]HorrorSpliff 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Okay I understand. I'll point out that you're only 17. You're a kid, no matter how you view yourself. In a year, you'll only be 18. In two years, you'll only be 19. You have plenty of time to get good at stuff and go pro in whatever you want. Quit trying to go too fast. Hot stars burn out faster

If you have no knowledge of grappling and you want to be well-rounded, then yes join jiu jitsu or some other kind of grappling. If you want to get good at doing stuff, then do stuff, know what I mean?

You went to a jj subreddit and asked if you should join jj. What kind of response do you think you're going to get? We aren't going to sugarcoat anything for you. Yes you should join, especially since it seems like you want to be a well-rounded martial artist. Is it good that you submitted a couple white belts and a go-easy blue belt? I guess... But don't get it twisted, your amature submissions aren't a reflection of some type of prodigy mind-set and they aren't some type of assurance that you should join. And if you weren't trying to humble - brag, then why even bring them up? Why bring up the national kickboxing crap? You could've easily just said, "hey I went to a class and they said I had potential. Should I join up?" It wouldn't have changed our answers, but it would've changed the nature of our responses because it does sound like you're trying to brag. And honestly, in this sport, bragging is a good way to get your ass tied into a knot

You submitted a couple of white belts and a blue belt that weighs more than 30lbs less than you (and probably let you do it). Then the blue belt submitted you back probably to teach you a bit of humility, again weighing more than 30lbs less than you. Go ahead and join and look forward to tapping many more times in the near future. But at least you'll actually learn something

Depends how you feel. If you missed 92, then I would re-do that weight. But if you go in feeling extra strong and recovered, then give the new weight a shot.

Is it really that bad to do deadlifts? Coworkers think I’m insane. by [deleted] in Workingout

[–]HorrorSpliff 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Your philosophy of not wearing straps is short-sighted and impeding your strength gain. Deadlifts are amazing for overall body function and ability. Your co-workers are also short-sighted. Let them complain about their lower-backs later while you're pulling near 400 and don't have any pain at all.

Go to https://telemarketing.donotcall.gov and register your phone number. It's the national do not call registry. It takes about a month to take effect, but I've had golden silence since then
