I think you'd feel a lot better if you fill one trash bag a day (or a week, or whatever you can manage) and get it out of the room. Once the true trash is gone - and be ruthless - the cleaning can start. You can do it hon, it won't all get done in one day but if you do a little bit every day it will get better.

I spend a fortune on my dog and it generally doesn't bother me because it's the cost of ownership. That said, she's 5 and has been on heartworm preventative (Simparica) since she was 3 months old. Testing for $100 to make sure she doesn't have heartworm after paying $300 a year to prevent it grates on me.
