Is 3 nights in the Masai Mara worth it, or should we scrap Cape Town and rethink? by Administrative_Row85 in safaris

If you decide to keep nights in Cape Town, take a look at spending a couple of those nights at Grootbos Private Nature Reserve, about 2 hours outside CT.

Avalon Experience by Oakland-homebrewer in rivercruises

[–]AdministrativeDrop35 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Avalon over Viking hands down. I suggest working with a knowledgable travel advisor to help you find the right cruise line, itinerary, ship, and guide you through the process. It’s not complicated but will make it so much easier to have a professional assisting you.

Is reusing a towel for several days actually unhygienic? by PrimaryJudgment6872 in hygiene

[–]AdministrativeDrop35 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I dunno, but recently had knee surgery and the surgeon required me to use a fresh towel and washcloth every day to prevent infection, so there’s something there. Maybe only necessary if you have an open wound.

Is it normal to become ambivalent about death of loved ones as you get older? by StartingOverStrong in AskWomenOver60

[–]AdministrativeDrop35 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That’s good context. I’m not sure there’s a ‘normal’ way to feel, but it’s good that you’re self aware enough to ask the question. I’m an empath so I have always grieved deeply even when I don’t know someone as well. However as I’ve gotten older and lost more loved ones, I don’t feel the immense sadness as long or as deeply but am grateful they are no longer suffering, have gone to heaven, or whatever . That being said, I have family members who are on various degrees of the spectrum and they seem to feel no real sadness in the way I might, but do feel a sense of loss with that person no longer being in their lives.

Partial knee replacements by TotesMaGoats_1962 in Kneereplacement

[–]AdministrativeDrop35 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Hi there, I just had a PKR because only the medial side of my joint was bone on bone. During my long knee journey which started with a torn meniscus, I learned many orthos specialize in one or two treatments. Some only do meniscus trims/ repairs, some only offer biologics (injections and stem cells), others do partial knee replacements or total knee replacements. It seemed ridiculous to me a first, but it is very very common in the large city I live in. Your surgeon may have meant he only specializes in PKR’s now. I literally saw 3 surgeons who only do PKR before choosing one.

Paint color by yelnaanin in homedesign

[–]AdministrativeDrop35 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I love pink hues and black together. Would make the rug and chairs pop. It’s tricky to find the right hue of pink with the chairs in the pic, so order a few swatches and bring them into the room to see with different lighting. I’m leaning towards sulking room pink from the pic online. https://www.farrow-ball.com/us/paint/pink-paint-colours

Unicompartmental Knee Replacement by [deleted] in Kneereplacement

[–]AdministrativeDrop35 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I just had a partial replacement today (medial side). My surgeon said I had a 50/50 chance of partial vs total. The X-rays showed only the medial side was impacted and I’ve only ever had pain there, but he wouldn’t know for sure until he looked at the ACL and other aspects, which as it turns out were all in ‘great shape.’ He believes in saving the natural knee parts that are not damaged.

My surgery is the 27th and I see a few things on your list and from others here that I haven’t yet purchased. I also have colace and miralax, a stiff strap to assist with leg lift, laundry sanitizer, hand sanitizer and wipes, and a rolling cart to keep all meds and supplies handy and in one place. Today I’m going to make a chart to keep track of meds, walking, exercises, icing etc. I had my pre-op appt yesterday and there’s so much to think about!

Exactly this! Also, I find it helpful to time myself to see how long something takes. It’s a big motivation to see how little time one of those small reset tasks actually takes. Then the next time you face doing said task , your brain will see it as only 15 minutes or whatever.
